Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Lead the agency’s commercial strategy and P&L ownership: set annual revenue targets, manage margins, approve major investments, and deliver monthly and quarterly financial performance against plan.
  • Own key client relationships and retention: serve as senior client sponsor for strategic accounts, build executive-level rapport, anticipate client needs and escalate to keep relationships strong and renewals on track.
  • Drive new business and growth initiatives: develop pitch strategies, lead proposal development, cultivate referral and prospect networks, and collaborate with new business teams to convert leads to revenue.
  • Translate client objectives into actionable agency offerings: define strategic briefs, scope services, set measurable KPIs, and align multidisciplinary teams (strategy, creative, production, media, analytics) to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Build and implement long-term agency strategy: create annual and multi-year plans for market positioning, service expansion, pricing strategy, and competitive differentiation.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain senior talent: define organizational structure, lead hiring for director-level roles, mentor managers, and create succession plans to sustain growth and institutional knowledge.
  • Set and enforce standards for service delivery and creative excellence: implement QA processes, approve final deliverables for flagship accounts, and maintain brand and creative integrity across channels.
  • Oversee resource planning and capacity management: forecast staffing needs, allocate internal teams or external partners, manage vendor relationships, and optimize utilization to meet client timelines and budgets.
  • Manage cross-functional operational execution: establish processes for brief intake, project governance, change control, and post-mortem learnings to improve speed, quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Design and monitor performance metrics and dashboards: develop KPIs around revenue, retention, NPS/CSAT, margin, utilization, campaign performance and present regular reports to executive leadership and board.
  • Lead contract negotiations and commercial terms: set pricing, SLAs, statements of work, renewal terms, and ensure legal and compliance alignment while protecting agency margins.
  • Champion data-driven decision making and measurement: partner with data and analytics leads to define measurement frameworks, attribution models, and ROI reporting for clients and agency investments.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting and financial controls: prepare annual budgets, lead quarterly forecasts, tighten cost controls, and work with finance to translate strategy into financial outcomes.
  • Drive digital transformation and technology adoption: evaluate martech and adtech platforms, streamline integrations, and advise on automation to improve campaign performance and operational efficiency.
  • Represent the agency externally as a thought leader: speak at industry events, publish whitepapers or case studies, and strengthen the agency brand to attract talent and clients.
  • Ensure compliance, risk management and ethical standards: oversee contractual compliance, data privacy practices, IP management, and ensure the agency follows industry regulations.
  • Lead client escalation and issue resolution: act as final escalation point for client disputes, ensure rapid resolution, and implement systemic fixes to prevent recurrence.
  • Foster a high-performance culture and employee engagement: implement KPI-driven performance reviews, professional development programs, DE&I initiatives, and recognition systems to maintain morale and reduce turnover.
  • Optimize pricing and packaging strategies: analyze profitability by service line, refine retainer vs. project pricing, and implement tiered service models that maximize lifetime client value.
  • Coordinate cross-agency or global account strategies: manage integrated delivery for multi-market clients, build collaboration frameworks across offices, and ensure consistency in service and reporting.
  • Develop and execute retention programs: identify at-risk clients early, create account plans to increase share-of-wallet, and implement value-add services to deepen relationships.
  • Lead M&A integration and partnership strategies (when applicable): evaluate acquisition targets, lead due diligence on client and revenue fit, and manage post-close integration of capabilities and teams.
  • Sponsor innovation initiatives and pilot programs: allocate time and budget for experimental services, incubate new capabilities, and scale successful pilots into commercial offerings.
  • Drive sustainability, corporate responsibility and community engagement as part of employer branding and client PR opportunities.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc executive requests and board reporting, including investor updates and strategy briefings.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or related field.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:
