  • Review and validate translations from English (or other source languages) into Albanian for accuracy, fluency, idiomatic expression, and cultural appropriateness; identify and correct mistranslations, omissions, and inconsistencies.
  • Enforce and refine client and in-house style guides for Albanian content, applying consistent punctuation, capitalization, terminology, abbreviation rules and formatting to meet brand voice and regulatory/compliance requirements.
  • Maintain and update Albanian glossaries and termbases within the TMS, add approved terminology entries with clear definitions and usage examples, and ensure translators and reviewers apply approved terminology consistently.
  • Run linguistic quality assurance using CAT tools and QA checkers (e.g., SDL Trados, memoQ, Xbench, QA Distiller) to detect inconsistencies, untranslated segments, tag and placeholder issues, numbering errors and repeated mistakes across large volumes of content.
  • Perform context-based in-context review (L10n QA) by validating translations directly in the product or staging environment (web, mobile app, CMS) to catch UI truncation, line breaks, tag corruption and meaning changes introduced by layout.
  • Proofread and adapt marketing copy, product descriptions and transcreated content to maintain persuasive tone, brand voice and target-audience resonance in Albanian while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance for local markets.
  • Edit and time-code subtitles, voiceover scripts and multimedia transcripts in Albanian for readability, synchronization, speaker clarity and adherence to subtitling best practices, ensuring accessibility and correct on-screen display.
  • Verify localized numeric data, currency, dates, legal references, addresses and contact information against source documents and local conventions to eliminate factual and formatting errors in final deliverables.
  • Collaborate with translators, localization engineers, project managers and product owners to clarify linguistic queries, resolve terminology disputes, propose optimal phrasing, and ensure timely delivery within project schedules.
  • Provide clear, constructive editorial feedback using tracked changes, comments and TMS review notes so translators can learn from corrections and reapply standards across subsequent projects.
  • Create and maintain documentation such as QA checklists, issue logs, editorial guidelines, and onboarding materials for Albanian linguists to institutionalize best practices and reduce recurring defects.
  • Conduct periodic sampling and detailed QA audits of completed Albanian projects, produce error-rate analyses and recommend corrective actions to improve long-term translation quality metrics.
  • Localize UI strings and software copy paying attention to context, character limits, pluralization, placeholders and platform-specific constraints to preserve functionality and user experience in Albanian.
  • Prioritize and manage high-volume proofreading tasks, estimate time-per-word for budgeting, and consistently meet tight deadlines while sustaining high accuracy and throughput.
  • Adapt content across dialectal or register requirements (formal vs. colloquial Albanian, regional variants) and propose localized alternatives for market-specific messaging and legal compliance.
  • Handle client-facing communications related to linguistic decisions, provide status updates, and present rationale for editorial choices when required by stakeholders.
  • Implement and enforce QA sign-off procedures, including peer review, sampling thresholds and final approval gates to ensure only high-quality Albanian copy is published.
  • Support SEO efforts by advising on Albanian keyword placement, naturalized search phrases, localized meta descriptions and alt text to improve organic discoverability in Albanian search queries.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing and linguistic validation cycles to verify language correctness in near-final builds and certify releases from a linguistic perspective.
  • Mentor junior proofreaders and in-country reviewers, run calibration exercises and provide training sessions to elevate overall team language standards and reduce error recurrence.

Secondary Functions

  • Maintain and improve the Albanian style guide and onboarding materials, incorporating updates from language reforms, client feedback and analytics.
  • Assist localization engineers with content extraction/import and tagging to preserve markup, placeholders and variables during translation and review.
  • Support glossary creation projects by researching terminology in subject matter domains (technical, medical, legal, marketing) and documenting preferred translations and context notes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for localization workflows, including automation of QA checks and integration of QA tools into the TMS.
  • Provide ad-hoc linguistic consulting for product teams on tone-of-voice, cultural sensitivity and market-specific messaging for launches and campaigns.
  • Contribute to cross-functional retrospectives to improve handoffs between translation, localization engineering and QA teams.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and freelance translators to ensure onboarding, calibration and alignment with internal Albanian quality standards.
  • Track and report metrics such as defects per 1,000 words, on-time delivery, and terminology compliance to inform process improvements.
