Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Read, interpret and work from architectural drawings, shop drawings, CAD files and installation details to layout, measure and mark aluminum composite panels (ACP) and metal cladding components for prefabrication and installation.
Prefabricate and fabricate aluminum cladding panels, trims, copings, flashings, brackets and support rails in the shop to tight tolerances using brake presses, shear, roll forming equipment and manual tools.
Accurately cut, notch, bend and finish aluminum sheet and composite panel materials on site and in the shop using saws, routers, nibblers, grinders, and hand tools while maintaining specified edge and joint tolerances.
Install aluminum cladding systems, rainscreen assemblies, and ACM panels on commercial building façades, including anchorage to structural substrates, alignment of vertical and horizontal joints, and installation of mullions and perimeter flashings.
Assemble and install curtain wall anchors, caps, pressure plates, and related extrusions, ensuring proper gasket placement, thermal breaks, and weather sealing per manufacturer details.
Apply structural fasteners, blind rivets, mechanical anchors and sealants following engineered torque and spacing specifications to accommodate thermal movement and wind loads.
Prepare substrate surfaces, remove existing cladding when required, install backer boards, insulation, and air/water resistive barriers to ensure proper adhesion, drainage and airtightness of the façade system.
Install and tool high‑performance sealants, gaskets and membranes to create continuous water and air barriers; perform joint cleaning, priming and finishing to produce durable weatherproof joints.
Set up and operate scaffolding, elevated work platforms (MEWP), boom lifts and fall‑protection systems; follow fall‑arrest procedures and maintain a clean work environment at heights.
Coordinate lift/crane operations for panel hoisting, rigging and positioning of large prefabricated units; signal and work with rigging crews to ensure safe and precise placement.
Execute on‑site layout, laser line alignment and squaring of panels, verifying plumb/level and dimensional control across elevations to maintain façade aesthetics and tolerance.

Perform on‑site metal finishing tasks such as grinding, sanding, buffing, anodizing touch‑ups or coordinating field painting to achieve specified surface finishes and color matching.
Maintain accurate material counts, waste records and installed panel tracking; manage panel identification systems to avoid installation errors and ensure traceability.
Conduct mock‑ups and sample panel installations for design approval, testing and verification of attachment details, waterproofing and finish appearance.
Troubleshoot field issues related to panel alignment, water infiltration, thermal movement or substrate irregularities and implement corrective measures in coordination with engineering.
Mentor apprentices and junior technicians on safe installation practices, use of tools, interpretation of drawings and quality standards for aluminum cladding systems.
Follow manufacturer installation guides and project specifications for ACM, solid aluminum panels, extrusions and specialty façade components to preserve product warranties and building code compliance.
Maintain and service hand and power tools, pneumatic rivet guns, sealant guns, laser levels and shop equipment; ensure tooling calibration and safe operation protocols are followed.
Adhere to site safety plans, OSHA/regional fall protection requirements, hazardous materials handling (e.g., solvents, adhesives) and maintain required certifications for access equipment and rigging.

Secondary Functions

Support material procurement and inventory checks for scheduled façade deliveries; report shortages or damaged materials to site management.
Assist in layout and prefabrication planning to improve shop-to-site efficiency and reduce on‑site fitting time.
Participate in pre-installation coordination meetings and contribute constructability feedback to design and procurement teams.
