Primary Functions
- Lead, schedule and supervise daily shop and field fitting activities related to aluminum fabrication, ensuring crews understand drawing requirements, tolerances, and finish specifications for structural, architectural and marine aluminum components.
- Interpret complex blueprints, CAD drawings and shop sketches to develop step‑by‑step fit‑up and assembly sequences, verifying dimensions and hole patterns prior to tack and final weld or fastener installation.
- Perform advanced aluminum fitting tasks including jigs and fixture setup, alignment to tolerance, trimming, notch cutting, edge preparation, deburring and finish sanding to meet quality and aesthetic standards.
- Coordinate welding operations for aluminum alloys (MIG/GMAW, TIG/GTAW, pulsed MIG) including preheat/cool procedures, filler metal selection, weld sequencing and post‑weld inspection to minimize distortion and cracking.
- Supervise and participate in precision mechanical assembly such as riveting, bolting, nut‑plate installation, countersinking, riveting patterns and torqueing to specified torque values and fastener datasheets.
- Oversee fit‑up and installation of complex assemblies using cranes, hoists, spreader bars and rigging gear; direct safe lift plans and communicate load limits to rigging crews.
- Enforce shop and site safety policies including PPE use, permit systems, confined space awareness, fall protection, lockout/tagout and OSHA/other regulatory compliance; conduct daily toolbox talks and safety audits.
- Implement and maintain quality control processes: first‑article inspections, in‑process checks, dimensional reports, non‑conformance documentation and corrective action follow‑up with QA/QC teams.
- Manage production scheduling and resource allocation, balancing manpower, machine time (saws, CNC routers, plasma/laser cutters, press brakes) and consumables to meet deadlines and optimize throughput.
- Mentor and train fitters, apprentices and temporary staff on aluminum‑specific techniques, welding best practices, tooling use, and reading engineering documentation to raise team capability.
- Troubleshoot fitment and assembly issues in real time, proposing design modifications or fixture adjustments and escalating engineering changes with documented fit reports.
- Maintain and calibrate measuring and inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, laser levels, CMM fixtures) and ensure traceability of inspection records and certification packages.

- Ensure compliance with metallurgical handling procedures for aluminum alloys (storage, cleanliness, contamination control) to prevent weldability and corrosion issues.
- Coordinate with design engineers during constructability reviews, providing practical fitting input, alternate methods for manufacturing and cost‑saving suggestions without compromising integrity.
- Oversee repair work and refurbishment of aluminum assemblies including removal of damaged sections, re‑fitment, re‑welding and finish restoration to client standards.
- Ensure environmental and waste handling requirements are met for scrap aluminum, solvents and hazardous materials; manage recycling streams and waste minimization efforts.
- Drive subcontractor performance when outsourcing specialty services (anodizing, powder coating, heat‑treating, specialized machining) to ensure scope, schedule and quality adherence.

Education & Experience
Educational Background
Minimum Education:
