Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Manage end-to-end new business processing for annuity contracts, including intake, application review, premium validation, agent/licensing verification, and final contract issuance, ensuring accuracy and adherence to SLAs.
  • Conduct detailed suitability and disclosure reviews for annuity sales documentation, illustrations and replacement requests to confirm compliance with state insurance regulations and company suitability policies.
  • Process and administer 1035 exchanges and transfers of annuity contracts, coordinating with carriers, custodians, and registered representatives to validate paperwork, tax forms, and transaction timelines.
  • Calculate, apply and explain surrender charges, market value adjustments, free withdrawal allowances, and penalty periods for deferred and immediate annuities; ensure correct fee coding and system updates.
  • Execute annuitizations and payout elections: validate beneficiary designations, compute annuity payout amounts, withholdings, tax reporting, and issue ongoing benefit payments to annuitants in accordance with contract terms.
  • Review, validate and process rider elections (income, enhanced death benefit, living benefit riders), determine eligibility, calculate rider charges, and update policy systems and reporting.
  • Investigate and resolve complex servicing and claims issues, including beneficiary claims, contract corrections, misapplied premiums, and payment disputes, escalating to underwriting or legal as needed.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and audit trails for all annuity transactions to support internal audits, regulatory exams, and complaint resolution, ensuring data integrity in policy administration systems.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate illustrations, projections and rate guarantees for new business and existing contract servicing, working closely with sales support and product teams to reflect current product crediting methods.
  • Serve as a primary operational liaison to wholesalers, financial advisors and broker-dealers to clarify contract provisions, confirm suitability documentation, and expedite transaction completion.
  • Reconcile incoming premiums and allocation instructions, coordinate with accounting to resolve cash application discrepancies, and ensure proper both-side settlement for annuity contracts.
  • Execute contract maintenance tasks including beneficiary changes, address updates, ownership changes, partial surrenders and systematic withdrawal plans while verifying identity and anti-fraud measures.
  • Administer periodic contract reviews and notices (rate changes, guaranteed minimums, required minimum distributions) to clients and financial professionals, ensuring regulatory disclosure compliance and accurate mailing/communication.
  • Participate in product launches and process changes by validating system configurations, mapping business requirements to administration workflows, and supporting UAT/implementation activities for annuity platforms.
  • Monitor and report against operational key performance indicators (turnaround times, quality scores, error rates), implement process improvements and contribute to root-cause remediation initiatives.
  • Provide training and guidance to less experienced team members on annuity product features, coding conventions, policy language, and system navigation to increase team competence and reduce exceptions.
  • Support regulatory and compliance initiatives, including suitability audits, FINRA/state insurance exam responses, and corrective action plans; assist with remediation of discovered exceptions.
  • Conduct periodic contract reviews for lapse notices, grace periods, and lapse rescission claims; administer reinstatements subject to underwriting and company policy.
  • Collaborate with actuarial and product teams to interpret rate tables, credited interest methodologies, spread/margin calculations, and calculation impacts on customer illustrations and reserves.
  • Handle inbound and outbound escalations from advisors and policyholders, provide clear resolution options, and document all interactions in CRM and policy administration systems.
  • Maintain expertise in change-of-owner and trust transfers, estate settlement procedures, and conservator/guardian documentation to ensure compliant processing of non-standard transactions.
  • Validate sequence and completeness of electronic and paper filings, manage image/document indexing, and maintain lifecycle records for audit readiness.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay current on annuity product updates (fixed-indexed features, living benefit enhancements, sub-account overlays) and evolving regulatory requirements.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
