  • Perform verbatim and intelligent transcription of Arabic audio and video recordings, producing timestamps, speaker identification, non-verbal cues, and cleaned transcripts ready for analysis or publication.
  • Provide high-quality linguistic annotation and metadata tagging for natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning datasets, following annotation guidelines and contributing to schema refinement.
  • Post-edit machine translation outputs (MTPE) for quality, accuracy, fluency and brand voice, applying industry best practices to improve consistency and decrease turnaround times.
  • Conduct linguistic quality assurance (LQA) and editing of translations produced by others, tracking and resolving terminology inconsistencies, mistranslations, and formatting issues using QA checklists and CAT-tool reports.
  • Localize product copy, user interfaces, help documentation, marketing materials and multimedia subtitles into culturally appropriate Arabic variants while preserving UX and SEO considerations.
  • Create, maintain, and expand bilingual glossaries, termbases, style guides and translation memory (TM) assets to ensure consistent terminology across projects and platforms.
  • Transcribe, translate, and analyze social media content, chat logs, and open-source intelligence (OSINT) in Arabic dialects to extract actionable insights and support research or intelligence reporting.
  • Prepare and deliver concise linguistic summaries, redlines, and annotated translations for subject-matter experts, legal teams, or executives, highlighting ambiguity, cultural nuance, and recommended interpretations.
  • Liaise with product managers, engineers, and localization PMs to scope linguistic requirements, estimate effort, and integrate language solutions into software development cycles and release timelines.
  • Manage sensitive and classified language data in accordance with organizational policies, ensuring secure handling, storage, and disposition of source files and translated output.
  • Provide on-call language support for live operations, emergency response, or real-time interpretation needs, delivering accurate, calm, and culturally aware communications under tight deadlines.
  • Prepare subtitling and captioning for Arabic video content, ensuring timing, readability, and compliance with accessibility standards while capturing dialectal differences and idiomatic meaning.
  • Support speech recognition and ASR model training by creating high-quality transcripts, phonetic annotations, and forced-alignment outputs for Arabic speech corpora.
  • Conduct linguistic research and comparative analyses of dialectal variants to inform model adaptation, localization strategy, or content targeting for specific Arabic-speaking markets.
  • Evaluate and recommend CAT and localization tool configurations (e.g., SDL Trados, memoQ, XTM, Smartcat), including segmentation rules, QA profiles, and TM alignment strategies to maximize throughput and quality.
  • Review and validate automatic metadata extraction and sentiment analysis outputs in Arabic, correcting false positives/negatives and improving classifier precision through annotated training data.
  • Lead and mentor junior translators, annotators, and interns by providing reviews, training sessions on best practices, and constructive feedback to elevate team performance and consistency.
  • Collaborate with QA engineers and developers to reproduce and resolve encoding, rendering, or glyph-related issues specific to Arabic scripts and right-to-left (RTL) layouts.
  • Produce detailed evidence-based reports and translated briefs for legal, compliance, or intelligence workflows with strict provenance and traceability of source materials.
  • Participate in cross-functional localization planning, providing linguistic estimates, risk assessments, and recommendations for market-specific adaptations and regulatory compliance.
  • Tailor translations and content for SEO optimization in Arabic markets by researching high-value keywords, incorporating localized terms naturally, and advising digital marketing teams on search intent variations.
  • Ensure final deliverables meet brand voice, tone of voice guidelines, and regulatory standards for healthcare, finance, legal, or government-related content, escalating ambiguities as needed.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc language data requests, corpus extractions and exploratory analyses for product teams, AI researchers, and data scientists to improve Arabic NLP pipelines.
  • Contribute to the organization’s language strategy, including dialect coverage priorities, MT integration, and roadmap planning for expanding Arabic language services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into linguistics workflows, SOWs, and tooling specifications for localization sprints.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and sprint planning as the language subject-matter expert, estimating effort for translation, QA, and linguistic engineering tasks.
  • Assist with recruitment and contracting of freelance Arabic linguists and annotators, vetting language proficiency, dialect coverage, and security compliance.
  • Help design and improve annotation guidelines, LQA rubrics, and acceptance criteria to accelerate reviewer consistency and model performance.
  • Track and report KPIs such as translation throughput, on-time delivery, MTPE ratio, LQA error rates, and TM leverage to inform continuous improvement.
