  • Develop, manage and maintain Revit/BIM models for architectural projects, implementing consistent family standards, view templates, and worksets to ensure multi-discipline coordination.
  • Create and annotate detailed architectural shop drawings and fabrication details for walls, ceilings, joinery, windows, doors and curtainwall systems, clarifying tolerances, fixings and materials for contractors and fabricators.
  • Prepare permit submission documentation and coordinate with local authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) to resolve plan check comments, code compliance items and documentation gaps.
  • Produce coordinated construction documents integrating structural, mechanical, electrical and civil consultant information, performing clash detection and resolving conflicts within the BIM environment.
  • Convert sketches, hand drawings and schematic designs into fully dimensioned CAD and BIM documentation suitable for tender, permit and construction.
  • Generate schedules and specification cross-references (door/window/finish schedules) and ensure alignment between drawings and project specifications.
  • Perform accurate quantity take-offs and assist with preliminary cost estimating by extracting material and component quantities from drawings and models.
  • Produce As-Built and record drawings following site reviews and contractor submissions, reflecting field conditions and RFI responses for record documentation.
  • Prepare detailed sections and assembly drawings showing insulation, moisture protection, flashing, and structural interfaces to ensure compliance with building science and code requirements.
  • Coordinate with project architects, engineers and consultants to incorporate design changes, update models, and issue revision clouds and revision logs for controlled document management.
  • Create clear, annotated construction details and typicals that translate design intent into installation methodology for subcontractors.
  • Maintain project drawing file structure, naming conventions, templates, title blocks and sheet sets to meet firm BIM standards and ensure quick retrieval and auditing.
  • Respond to contractor RFIs and shop drawing submittals by preparing clarifications, revised details and revised drawing overlays within required turnaround times.
  • Manage drawing issue cycles for tender, construction and record stages including issued-for-tender (IFT), issued-for-construction (IFC) and issued-for-approval (IFA) transmittals.
  • Undertake site visits and measured surveys to verify dimensions, capture field conditions and gather photographic documentation to inform accurate model updates.
  • Conduct quality control (QC) checks on drawings and models for completeness, dimensional accuracy, annotation clarity and code compliance before issuance.
  • Prepare presentation-quality 3D views, renderings and perspective images for client reviews and design coordination using SketchUp, Revit or rendering plug-ins.
  • Implement and maintain a library of standard details, families and CAD blocks to increase efficiency and standards continuity across projects.
  • Assist in producing construction specifications and annotated detail notes that describe materials, product types and installation sequences.
  • Support project teams by tracking drawing revisions, maintaining issue logs and ensuring timely distribution of updated documentation to stakeholders.
  • Train junior drafters and interns in office CAD/BIM standards, detailing practices and quality assurance workflows to raise team capability.
  • Participate in site coordination meetings and pre-construction workshops to represent architectural deliverables and advise on constructability risks.

Secondary Functions

  • Support tender preparation by compiling drawing bundles, addenda and revision packages for procurement and bid evaluation.
  • Maintain and update office BIM/CAD standards manual, templates and family libraries to reflect best practices and new product information.
  • Assist project managers with project scheduling inputs related to drawing production timelines and deliverables tracking.
  • Research manufacturer product data, fixings and connection details to inform accurate specification and detailing.
  • Provide ad-hoc technical support to contractors during the construction phase, including issuing detail clarifications and field sketches.
  • Participate in post-occupancy reviews and lessons-learned sessions to improve future documentation and detailing standards.
  • Contribute to office digital archiving and knowledge management by tagging and cataloguing completed drawings and templates for reuse.
  • Liaise with surveyors and consultants to ensure survey control, levels and reference grids are correctly incorporated into architectural models.
  • Assist in producing health and safety / temporary works drawings required for site setup, scaffolding and access coordination.
  • Support sustainability documentation efforts by indicating passive design details, insulation values and weatherproofing strategies in drawings.
