Primary Functions

Operate and maintain HEPA-filtered vacuums and negative air units, ensuring filters are intact, changed per protocol, and properly handled as regulated waste.
Package, label, and double-bag regulated asbestos waste in accordance with EPA and state hazardous waste requirements, and prepare waste for transport and disposal at licensed facilities using proper manifests.
Conduct daily inspection and routine maintenance of containment integrity, negative pressure systems, decontamination units, and PPE to prevent contamination spread.
Establish and supervise decontamination procedures for crew, tools, and equipment including clean room, shower room, and dirty room operations.
Perform respirator use and fit check protocols, donning/doffing PPE correctly (powered air purifying respirators (PAPRs), half- or full-face elastomeric respirators, disposable protective suits) and follow air monitoring results.
Collect bulk samples, assist in field sampling and chain-of-custody procedures when required, and support third-party industrial hygienists or inspectors during air monitoring and clearance testing.
Execute pre-abatement site preparation: isolation of work area, removal or protection of nonaffected materials, temporary relocation of occupants, and posting required warning labels and signage.
Maintain detailed project documentation including daily logs, worker exposure records, decontamination logs, air monitoring results, disposal manifests, and photographic records for regulatory compliance.
Follow emergency response procedures for accidental fiber release or PPE failure, including evacuation, containment, and incident reporting to supervisors and safety officers.
Transport and stage materials and equipment to and from the work zone safely, following site-specific safety plans and vehicle loading/unloading protocols.
Communicate effectively with project supervisors, industrial hygienists, subcontractors, and building owners to coordinate access, minimize disruption, and ensure work is completed per scope.
Perform final cleaning, negative air clearance assistance, and worker-led visual inspections to prepare for third-party clearance air testing and site re-occupation.

Secondary Functions
