Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Lead the development, management, and execution of the athletics departmental budget, including forecasting revenues and expenses, overseeing operating budgets for multiple programs, and producing monthly budget variance reports for senior leadership.

  • Build and execute an integrated marketing and communications strategy for athletics that includes digital content, social media, media relations, branding, and storytelling to grow fan engagement and institutional visibility.
  • Oversee recruitment support and compliance education for coaching staffs by maintaining recruiting calendars, monitoring contacts and evaluations, and providing training on NCAA/Conference regulations and best practices.
  • Lead risk management and emergency response planning for athletics operations by developing event safety protocols, conducting emergency drills, coordinating with campus public safety, and maintaining insurance and liability documentation.

  • Develop and implement Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) program strategy and education for student‑athletes, coordinating compliance reviews, vendor relationships, financial literacy workshops, and monitoring third‑party agreements.
  • Design and implement diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives for the athletics department to improve access, retention, and leadership opportunities across staff and student‑athlete populations.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, Higher Education Administration, Kinesiology, or related field.

Preferred Education:

  • Master’s degree in Sports Administration, Business (MBA), Higher Education Leadership, or related advanced degree preferred.
