Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards and operational reports using Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar BI tools to provide timely insights for business stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Write, optimize, and document complex SQL queries to extract, join, aggregate, and validate large datasets across multiple relational and cloud-native data sources (Postgres, MySQL, BigQuery, Snowflake).
  • Perform end-to-end data cleaning and transformation, identifying and resolving data quality issues, outliers, and inconsistencies to ensure accuracy of analysis and reporting.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis and ad-hoc analyses to answer business questions, quantify trends, measure key performance indicators (KPIs), and support strategic decision-making.
  • Develop reproducible analysis pipelines and lightweight ETL scripts in Python or R (pandas, dplyr) to automate recurring reporting tasks and reduce manual work.
  • Translate ambiguous business problems into structured analytics requirements; define metrics, calculate baselines, and propose measurable success criteria.
  • Partner with product, marketing, finance, and operations teams to scope analytics requests, prioritize deliverables, and present findings in clear, non-technical language.
  • Build and maintain metric definitions, documentation, and a centralized metrics layer or semantic model to ensure consistency across dashboards and reports.
  • Validate and reconcile production reports against source systems and raw data extracts to identify root cause of discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Create and maintain scheduled data extracts, pipeline monitoring checks, and basic alerting to ensure reliability of analytics outputs.
  • Assist in designing and analyzing A/B tests and experiments, calculating sample size, lift, and statistical significance where applicable.
  • Summarize findings with clear written insights and slide-ready visuals for cross-functional meetings, leadership reviews, and stakeholder communications.
  • Maintain version control for analysis code, dashboards, and data models; follow best practices for documentation and change management.
  • Support data governance initiatives by helping to implement access controls, data lineage tracking, and metadata documentation for analytics artifacts.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for metric regressions or sudden anomalies and recommend corrective or preventative measures to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with data engineering to specify data requirements, enhance data schemas, and prioritize data ingestion tasks that enable better analytics.
  • Implement basic forecasting and trend analysis to model future performance for revenue, user growth, churn, or operational capacity.

  • Participate in code and dashboard reviews with senior analysts and engineers to iterate on design, performance, and interpretability.

Hard Skills (Technical)

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Data Science, Information Systems, Finance, or related field.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree with coursework in data analytics, applied statistics, computer science, or business analytics. Certifications in SQL, Python, Tableau, Power BI, or data engineering tools are a plus.
