Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Diagnose complex electrical and electronic faults across vehicles using OEM diagnostic tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers; produce clear fault reports and recommended repair plans.
  • Inspect, test, repair and replace wiring harnesses, connectors, relays, fuses, switches and sensors following OEM specifications and wiring diagrams.

  • Troubleshoot and repair CAN, LIN and FlexRay network communication issues; isolate bus faults and perform network integrity checks to restore reliable communication between modules.
  • Service and repair charging systems, alternators, starter circuits, ignition systems and battery management systems; perform load tests and capacity checks on 12V and high-voltage battery systems.
  • Perform high-voltage (HV) system maintenance and safe isolation procedures on hybrid and electric vehicles, including HV battery inspections, insulation testing and HV connector servicing in accordance with safety protocols.
  • Install, calibrate and validate ADAS components (cameras, radars, ultrasonic sensors) and execute OEM-required static or dynamic calibrations after repairs or windshield replacements.
  • Diagnose and repair ABS, traction control, airbag (SRS) systems and related sensors; read freeze-frame data and crash codes to determine root causes and verify repairs.
  • Repair and replace HVAC electrical components (blower motors, actuators, control modules) and troubleshoot temperature control and blower motor circuitry.
  • Fabricate and repair custom wiring solutions, including splicing, soldering and sealed connector repair, while maintaining OEM quality and corrosion protection standards.
  • Conduct module-to-module integration checks after part replacement or software updates to ensure vehicle functionality and safety features operate correctly.
  • Execute scheduled electrical preventive maintenance for fleet and service customers, documenting findings, repairs and parts used to reduce downtime and repeat failures.
  • Perform battery state-of-health checks for conventional and EV batteries, recommend replacements or reconditioning, and safely handle, charge and store batteries to minimize risk.
  • Support aftermarket electrical installations (alarms, telematics, vehicle tracking, audio systems) with proper integration to existing vehicle networks and avoidance of ECM conflicts.
  • Use service information systems and wiring diagrams to plan repairs, estimate labor and parts needs, and produce accurate job quotes for customers or service advisors.
  • Conduct comprehensive road tests after electrical repairs to verify system performance, capture intermittent faults and validate ADAS calibration under real-world conditions.
  • Maintain accurate diagnostic logs, repair records and firmware versions installed, ensuring traceability and compliance with manufacturer warranty and safety standards.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians on electrical diagnostics, safe handling of HV systems and proper use of diagnostic equipment and OEM software.
  • Maintain inventory of electrical parts, specialized tools and diagnostic licenses; recommend stocking changes based on recurring fault patterns and workshop demand.
  • Ensure shop compliance with electrical and high-voltage safety procedures, PPE use, lockout-tagout, battery disposal and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate with parts, service advisors and OEM technical support to obtain wiring diagrams, TSBs (technical service bulletins) and software updates for complex electrical faults.
  • Identify software-related faults caused by out-of-date calibration files or module mismatches and coordinate software downloads, reflashes and VIN-based configuration.

  • Assist in maintaining workshop cleanliness, tool calibration schedules and secure storage for high-voltage tools and diagnostic equipment.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Advanced vehicle electrical diagnostics using OEM scanners (e.g., Techstream, IDS, VIDA, NASTF-supported tools) and third-party diagnostic platforms.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle networks: CAN, LIN, FlexRay and FAST protocols and tools to monitor bus traffic and fault frames.
  • ECU module programming, reflashing and configuration; experience with SOTA/OTA update processes a plus.

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
