Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Greet and qualify customers promptly and professionally in the showroom and on the phone, identify needs and buying signals, and guide buyers through a consultative sales process for both new and used vehicles.

- Present and explain financing and lease options in coordination with the Finance & Insurance (F&I) department, ensuring customers understand payment structures, warranties, and add-on products.
- Accurately document sales activity and update customer records, follow-ups, and pipeline stages in the dealership CRM (e.g., Dealertrack, CDK Global, Reynolds & Reynolds).
- Appraise trade-in vehicles using objective market data, condition reports, and inventory needs; provide fair trade valuations and coordinate with used car manager for acquisitions.
- Handle contract preparation, order entry, and paperwork processing at delivery; ensure all forms, signatures, and DMV requirements are completed accurately and timely.
- Achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and yearly sales quotas and KPI targets (units sold, gross profit, front-end/back-end gross, lead response times, closing ratio).
- Build long-term relationships through follow-up calls, service reminders, and customer satisfaction outreach to generate referrals and repeat sales.
- Collaborate with marketing to execute local promotions, digital retail campaigns, and trade events to drive traffic and awareness; provide feedback on lead quality and campaign performance.
- Maintain showroom and lot merchandising standards — ensure display vehicles are clean, adequately fueled, fully charged (EVs), and merchandised to maximize appeal.
- Stay current on automotive product knowledge, competitive intelligence, inventory levels, manufacturer programs, and incentives to present accurate offers and promotions.
- Coordinate with service, parts, and vehicle preparation teams to ensure timely delivery and proper F&I/paperwork handoffs for a seamless customer experience.
- Use online pricing tools, market reports, and inventory management systems to make data-driven recommendations on pricing and vehicle sourcing.
- Participate in daily huddles, sales meetings, and ongoing training sessions; implement coaching feedback to improve closing rates and customer satisfaction scores.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations (FTC Used Car Rule, Lemon Law, privacy regulations), dealership policies, and manufacturer standards in all customer transactions.
- Handle escalated customer concerns professionally, mediate solutions with managers or service teams when needed, and document outcomes to maintain positive customer relationships.
- Track and report personal sales metrics and leads pipeline to sales manager; develop action plans to address performance gaps and capitalize on high-opportunity leads.
- Assist with inventory acquisition by identifying high-demand vehicles and recommending purchases or trade-in acceptance to used-car management.
- Utilize digital retailing platforms to facilitate remote negotiations, trade valuations, credit applications, and home/curbside delivery where applicable.

Secondary Functions
