Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct in-depth, personalized client consultations to assess skin type, skin concerns, lifestyle factors, and beauty goals, then recommend tailored facial treatments, makeup looks, and retail product regimens that drive both client results and product sales.
  • Perform professional facial services including cleansing, exfoliation, steaming, extractions, mask application, massage, and safe use of professional devices in accordance with brand protocols and state regulations to deliver measurable improvements in skin health.
  • Deliver waxing and hair removal services (brow, lip, chin, body) using recommended techniques and high sanitation standards, ensuring client comfort, minimizing skin irritation, and providing aftercare instructions.
  • Apply professional makeup for daily wear, special events, and photographic looks, including color matching, contouring, and product layering while teaching clients application techniques and recommending products.
  • Analyze client skin with advanced diagnostic tools and visual assessment to determine appropriate ingredient- and treatment-based strategies (retinol, acids, peptides, hyaluronic acid), addressing acne, sensitivity, hyperpigmentation, and aging concerns.
  • Provide brow and lash services (brow shaping, tinting, brow lamination, lash lifts) when trained and certified, ensuring precision shaping and long-lasting results tailored to facial proportions.
  • Build and maintain a client book by following up after appointments, scheduling re-bookings, maintaining accurate client records (skin history, allergies, product use), and delivering ongoing skincare education that increases retention and lifetime client value.
  • Meet and exceed individual sales targets by upselling and cross-selling skincare, makeup, and treatment packages through consultative selling techniques, product demonstrations, and targeted promotional initiatives.
  • Maintain strict sanitation, hygiene, and infection control protocols for equipment, tools, linens, and treatment spaces in compliance with state cosmetology/esthetician regulations and internal brand standards.
  • Demonstrate deep product knowledge across multiple brands and categories—insightful ingredient explanations, competitive differentiation, and correct product uses—to educate clients and increase retail conversion rates.
  • Execute professional skin, makeup, and treatment demonstrations on the sales floor to engage customers, answer product questions, and convert trials into purchases while supporting brand marketing initiatives and launch events.
  • Accurately operate POS systems and appointment booking software, process sales transactions (including returns and exchanges), track gift card/redemption activity, and support store financial goals with timely and accurate reporting.
  • Participate in company and brand trainings, certifications, and continuing education to stay current with techniques, ingredient science, new product launches, and compliance updates.
  • Collaborate with store management and brand reps to design promotional events, VIP client nights, and in-store workshops that drive traffic, build community, and deepen client relationships.
  • Prepare and maintain treatment rooms and client areas: restocking single-use consumables, disinfecting tools and surfaces, laundering linens, and ensuring a professional, welcoming presentation at all times.
  • Customize treatment protocols for clients with medical considerations or contraindications by coordinating with medical professionals when required and following referral or modification policies.
  • Track client feedback and treatment outcomes, escalate concerns to management as needed, and proactively implement corrective actions to improve service satisfaction and reduce rework or refunds.
  • Mentor and support junior team members by sharing best practices for consultations, retail techniques, treatment delivery, and time management to elevate overall team performance.
  • Contribute to inventory management by monitoring product stock levels, rotating samples and testers, conducting cycle counts, and assisting with purchase order requests to minimize stockouts and shrink.
  • Maintain up-to-date client records including treatment history, allergic reactions, and product preferences in CRM systems to enable personalized marketing communications and ensure safe future services.

Required Skills & Competencies
