Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Lead daily store operations to achieve and exceed weekly and monthly sales targets, monitor cash handling, and ensure compliance with company policies and loss prevention procedures.
  • Provide expert one-on-one outfitting and styling consultations for customers, leveraging deep product knowledge to recommend apparel, footwear, and gear that match fit, performance, and lifestyle needs.
  • Drive conversion and average transaction value through personalized selling techniques, suggestive selling, targeted promotions, and upsell strategies while tracking results against KPIs.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain a high-performing team; create staffing schedules that balance labor efficiency with exceptional customer service during peak and off-peak hours.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop sales associates through structured training plans, role-play sessions, and real-time feedback to improve product knowledge, selling skills, and customer engagement.
  • Manage inventory accuracy through cycle counts, receiving, transfers, and reconciliation procedures; partner with logistics to optimize stock levels and minimize out-of-stocks and overstock.
  • Plan, execute, and maintain seasonal and tactical visual merchandising standards, planograms, and store displays to maximize product visibility and support brand campaigns.
  • Analyze sales performance, foot traffic, conversion rates, and inventory turnover to identify trends, recommend assortment adjustments, and inform buying decisions.
  • Implement and optimize omnichannel processes, including buy-online-pickup-in-store (BOPIS), ship-from-store, and returns management to deliver seamless customer experiences.
  • Build strong vendor and vendor rep relationships to coordinate product launches, exclusive assortments, special events, and in-store demos or fittings.
  • Own store-level budgeting, expense control, and payroll management, ensuring profitable operations while investing in in-store initiatives that drive sales.
  • Lead community engagement and local marketing initiatives, including in-store events, partnerships, product demos, and outreach that increase brand awareness and drive repeat business.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and branded store environment by enforcing safety protocols, conducting regular facility checks, and coordinating maintenance needs.
  • Manage point-of-sale (POS) system operations and reporting, ensure accuracy of transactions and refunds, and train staff in POS best practices and loss prevention techniques.
  • Develop and maintain detailed product knowledge across brands and technical categories (e.g., waterproofing, insulation, fabrications, fit systems) to provide technical fitting and gear guidance.
  • Conduct quarterly performance reviews and establish individual development plans tied to measurable outcomes and promotion readiness.
  • Lead markdown, clearance, and inventory aging programs to maximize recovery, minimize shrink, and maintain assortment health.
  • Coordinate with e-commerce, marketing, and merchandising teams to implement in-store support for online campaigns and to relay customer feedback and competitive insights.
  • Respond to and resolve escalated customer issues with empathy and speed, leveraging company policies and escalating only when necessary to preserve customer relationships.
  • Track and report on store KPIs, conduct root cause analysis when targets are missed, and iterate operational plans to continually improve results.
  • Support seasonal hiring surges and scale training programs to ensure consistent brand standards and conversion performance during peak selling periods.
  • Implement and enforce company standards for product presentation, signage, pricing accuracy, and promotional setup to ensure a consistent customer experience.
  • Lead sustainability and product-care education programs for customers and staff, promoting responsible product usage and brand initiatives when applicable.

Secondary Functions
