Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Lead, mentor and grow a high-performing team of business analysts and data analysts, setting clear development goals, conducting regular performance reviews, and creating career progression plans to retain top talent and build bench strength.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders (product, engineering, finance, operations, marketing, and executive leadership) to define business strategy, prioritize initiatives, and translate strategic objectives into a roadmap of analytics, product, and process change projects.
  • Own the end-to-end requirements lifecycle: elicit needs through interviews and workshops, document clear business requirements and acceptance criteria, convert them into user stories and wireframes when appropriate, and shepherd requirements through design, build, test, and release.
  • Establish and maintain a robust backlog prioritization framework that balances business value, complexity, technical risk, and strategic alignment to ensure the most impactful work is delivered first.
  • Design and implement measurable KPIs and dashboards (using Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or comparable tools) to monitor business performance, provide continuous insight, and drive data-informed decision-making across the organization.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar) by mapping current state processes, identifying root causes, proposing optimized future-state processes, and quantifying expected benefits (time saved, cost avoided, error reduction).
  • Coordinate cross-functional delivery across product, engineering, QA, data engineering, and operations teams to ensure timely delivery of features, enhancements, and reporting, including dependency management and mitigation plans.
  • Translate complex data and technical constraints into concise, non-technical recommendations for business stakeholders, enabling rapid alignment and informed prioritization.
  • Lead requirements review and sign-off processes with multiple stakeholders, ensuring traceability from business need through to deliverable and acceptance test results to reduce rework and scope creep.
  • Champion Agile practices (Scrum, Kanban) within the BA team and across delivery squads, facilitating sprint planning, backlog refinement, demos, and retrospectives to maximize throughput and quality.
  • Drive stakeholder engagement strategy including communication plans, governance rituals, steering committees, and progress reporting to ensure transparency and executive sponsorship for priority initiatives.
  • Manage and optimize the demand intake process, including intake forms, gating criteria, ROI assessments, and capacity planning to align work intake with organizational goals and resource availability.
  • Oversee user acceptance testing (UAT) and coordinate cross-functional test plans, test data, defect triage, and resolution tracking to ensure delivered changes meet business requirements and quality standards.
  • Conduct advanced data analysis (SQL, Python/R when applicable) and experimentation design (A/B tests) to quantify opportunity size, validate hypotheses, and recommend evidence-based solutions.
  • Build business cases and present cost–benefit analyses, including TCO and ROI, to secure project funding and prioritize investments against competing initiatives.
  • Maintain a living requirements repository, business rules library, and reference documentation to accelerate onboarding, reduce duplicated effort, and preserve institutional knowledge.
  • Lead vendor evaluation and management activities for analytics, workflow, and process automation tools; define requirements, run RFPs, and coordinate implementation with vendor partners.
  • Ensure regulatory and compliance requirements are embedded in requirements and solution design (e.g., data privacy, SOX, PCI, GDPR) and collaborate with legal/compliance teams to mitigate risk.
  • Facilitate complex stakeholder workshops (journey mapping, design thinking, value stream mapping) to achieve consensus on future-state solutions and accelerate decision-making.
  • Monitor delivery health using metrics (cycle time, lead time, escape defects, delivery predictability) and implement continuous improvement plans to increase predictability and quality.
  • Translate enterprise strategy into departmental/team-level OKRs and ensure BA deliverables map directly to measurable outcomes that are tracked each quarter.
  • Oversee the integration of analytics into self-serve reporting and operational workflows to reduce ad hoc reporting requests and empower business users with data literacy training and governance.
  • Act as the escalation point for major incidents impacting business processes or reporting, coordinating remediation plans, root-cause analysis, and long-term corrective actions.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis.
  • Contribute to the organization's data strategy and roadmap.
  • Collaborate with business units to translate data needs into engineering requirements.
  • Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies within the data engineering team.
