Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Lead the end-to-end application lifecycle for mission-critical business systems (ERP, CRM, HRIS, Finance, Supply Chain, Sales Enablement), including requirements definition, vendor selection, implementation, integration, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support while ensuring alignment to business strategy and measurable KPIs.
  • Define, maintain and communicate a multi-year business applications roadmap that prioritizes features, technical debt, integrations, security, and compliance requirements to support revenue growth, operational efficiency and digital transformation goals.
  • Act as the principal liaison between business stakeholders (Finance, Sales, HR, Operations) and technology teams to translate complex business requirements into functional specifications, technical designs, and acceptance criteria.
  • Manage application vendor relationships and contracts (SaaS and on-premise) including SLAs, renewals, pricing negotiations, escalation paths, feature roadmaps, and third-party integrations to optimize total cost of ownership and vendor performance.
  • Design and govern integration strategies and APIs for data flow across ERP, CRM, data warehouse, cloud services, HR systems and third-party platforms using middleware, ESB, iPaaS solutions or custom connectors to ensure data reliability and end-to-end process automation.
  • Lead and manage cross-functional implementation projects using Agile or hybrid SDLC methodologies: plan sprints, prioritize backlogs, manage dependencies, coordinate UAT, and ensure timely release management with minimal business disruption.
  • Own application incident, problem and change management processes (ITIL-aligned), ensuring timely root-cause analysis, remediation plans, and trend reporting to reduce repeat issues and improve system availability and performance.
  • Drive data governance, data quality, and master data management practices across business applications; implement validation, reconciliation routines, and monitoring to ensure accurate reporting and operational decisions.
  • Oversee application security and compliance activities for business systems, including role-based access controls, segregation of duties, audit logging, vendor security reviews, GDPR/CCPA/industry regulatory alignment and quarterly security assessments.
  • Develop and enforce application architecture standards, configuration best practices, naming conventions, and development guidelines to minimize fragmentation and simplify future upgrades and integration work.
  • Own licensing, capacity planning and cost management for business applications and SaaS subscriptions; provide budgeting, forecasting, and chargeback recommendations to leadership.
  • Coordinate and lead cross-functional user acceptance testing (UAT), regression testing, performance testing and support cutover planning for major releases and upgrades to minimize business impact.
  • Create and maintain end-user training programs, documentation, runbooks, and knowledge bases; enable business process owners and application champions to drive adoption and self-service support models.
  • Partner with data analytics and BI teams to define analytics requirements, create operational dashboards, and ensure transactional systems generate high-quality data for reporting in Power BI/Tableau or data warehouse platforms.
  • Execute continuous improvement initiatives to optimize application workflows, reduce manual effort (RPA/Power Automate), accelerate time to value, and track ROI from application investments.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to application analysts, developers, integration engineers and support staff; build a high-performing team culture focused on delivery, customer service and technical excellence.
  • Monitor vendor-provided roadmaps and feature releases (Dynamics 365, Salesforce, Workday, ServiceNow, Workday, etc.) and coordinate internal evaluation and adoption cycles to leverage new capabilities and reduce customization.
  • Implement and manage monitoring, alerting and performance tuning for critical applications; collaborate with infrastructure and cloud teams (Azure/AWS) to optimize latency, scaling and availability.
  • Prepare executive-level reports and dashboards on application health, project status, budget vs. actuals, SLAs, and strategic initiatives for the CIO, CFO and business unit leaders.
  • Lead cross-functional workshops and business process mapping sessions to identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and alignment between organizational objectives and application capabilities.
  • Ensure robust data migration strategies for major implementations or consolidations, including mapping, cleansing, reconciliation, rollback plans, and verification to minimize data loss and business disruption.
  • Manage escalation of critical incidents and post-mortem reviews; synthesize findings into actionable remediation and prevention plans, and track closure of corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain an application governance framework including steering committees, intake processes, prioritization criteria, and KPIs to ensure investments are aligned with organizational priorities.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
