Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of large, multi-year business transformation programs by defining target operating models, capability maps, and strategic roadmaps that align with executive goals and measurable business outcomes.
- Develop comprehensive enterprise architecture blueprints (business, information, application, and technology layers) that translate business strategy into a prioritized portfolio of initiatives, migration paths, and interoperability standards.
- Create and maintain the transformation roadmap, sequencing initiatives for minimal disruption while maximizing short-, mid- and long-term value and ROI; continually reprioritize based on KPI performance and changing market conditions.
- Lead cross-functional solution design workshops with senior stakeholders, product owners, IT architects, and vendors to co-create end-to-end solutions that balance business needs, technical feasibility, cost, and risk.
- Drive benefits realization and value tracking via robust KPIs, metrics, and dashboards; design and execute benefits tracking frameworks to validate outcomes against business cases and adjust delivery plans accordingly.
- Architect and oversee cloud migration strategies and platform rationalization, including microservices, API strategies, and hybrid-cloud patterns to enable scalability, resilience, and cost optimization.
- Design and implement governance frameworks and decisioning structures (steering committees, architecture boards, release cadences) to ensure alignment, funding discipline, and risk mitigation across complex transformation portfolios.
- Conduct capability assessments, maturity diagnostics, and gap analyses to identify high-impact transformation opportunities and to define organization-wide capability uplift plans.
- Own business case development, financial modeling, and cost-benefit analyses to secure executive sponsorship and budget approval for strategic transformation investments.
- Lead vendor selection, alliance management and contract negotiations for strategic technology and service providers, ensuring SLAs, commercial models and delivery approaches meet transformation goals.
- Design and implement operating model changes including organizational structures, roles and responsibilities, governance, and incentives to enable sustainable adoption of new ways of working.
- Architect data strategy alignment with transformation efforts — data governance, master data management, analytics platforms, and decisioning layers that enable data-driven operations and continuous improvement.
- Provide architectural guidance and guardrails for agile delivery teams, ensuring solutions comply with enterprise standards, security, compliance and scalability requirements while enabling autonomous delivery.
- Establish change management and stakeholder engagement plans that drive adoption through communication, training, role design, and behavioral reinforcement strategies across impacted business units.
- Manage program risk and dependencies across business and IT portfolios, proactively escalating and resolving cross-functional impediments to maintain schedule, scope and budget integrity.
- Translate complex technical and business concepts into executive-ready artifacts — strategic roadmaps, investment cases, solution blueprints and concise progress reports for CXO audiences.
- Mentor and develop a matrixed team of business architects, solution architects, process analysts and transformation managers to build internal capability and reduce reliance on external consultants.
- Lead process re-engineering efforts using Lean, Six Sigma and BPMN techniques to simplify end-to-end workflows, reduce cycle times and eliminate non-value-added activities.
- Orchestrate integration strategies for legacy systems, ERP, CRM and third-party platforms to ensure seamless data flows and predictable cutover plans during migrations and consolidations.
- Define and enforce architecture patterns and reusable solution components to accelerate delivery, reduce technical debt and improve maintainability across the enterprise application portfolio.
- Drive cross-functional pilot programs and rapid prototyping to validate hypotheses, reduce time-to-value and refine designs prior to large-scale rollouts.
- Ensure regulatory, security and compliance requirements are incorporated into solution architectures and transformation plans, coordinating with legal, risk and compliance teams as necessary.
Secondary Functions
- Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis.
- Contribute to the organization's data strategy and roadmap.
- Collaborate with business units to translate data needs into engineering requirements.
- Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies within the data engineering team.
- Support the development of training materials and enablement programs for new operating models and platforms.
- Assist internal audit and compliance teams with architecture reviews and evidence of controls during transformation change windows.
