Primary Functions

  • Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts for assigned categories by analyzing historical sales, market trends, promotions, seasonality and collaborative inputs from sales, marketing and merchandising to minimize out-of-stocks and excess inventory.
  • Execute end-to-end purchase order management: create, validate, issue, track and confirm POs in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Blue Yonder/JDA), ensuring on-time delivery and correct pricing, lead times and incoterms.
  • Build and maintain replenishment plans and safety stock policies using statistical models, vendor lead-time variability and service-level targets to optimize inventory turns and working capital.
  • Plan and manage promotional forecasting and inventory allocation for trade promotions and marketing campaigns, coordinating timing, quantities and distribution across channels to meet promotional demand without overstocking.
  • Own vendor performance management: monitor on-time delivery, fill rate, quality metrics, lead time adherence, and coordinate corrective actions with suppliers and operations.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, price, freight and lead time agreements with suppliers and logistics partners to reduce costs and improve supply reliability.
  • Partner with Category Management and Merchandising to align assortment changes, new product introductions (NPIs) and phase-outs with supply plans and sourcing strategies.
  • Drive weekly/monthly S&OP processes: provide data-driven demand inputs, review supply constraints, update inventory projections and recommend order revisions to leadership.
  • Monitor inventory health through metrics (turns, days of cover, aged inventory, slow-moving SKU analysis) and implement disposition strategies including markdowns, transfers, promotions or supplier returns.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis of forecast variance and supply disruption events; propose and implement corrective improvements to forecasting algorithms, demand inputs and supplier measures.
  • Maintain and reconcile master data for assigned SKUs: lead times, reorder points, safety stock, pack sizes, BOMs, item classifications and vendor assignments to ensure system accuracy.
  • Develop and deliver weekly and ad-hoc inventory, forecast and purchasing reports and dashboards for stakeholders using Excel, Power BI or Tableau to support decision-making.
  • Manage onboarding and qualification of new suppliers including sample review, compliance checks, capacity assessment and contractual terms to ensure supply continuity for NPIs.

  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives for purchasing and planning processes, including automation of PO creation, forecast smoothing, and cycle-count feedback loops.
  • Evaluate and select inventory replenishment strategies (min/max, EOQ, continuous review) by SKU class and channel, applying ABC/XYZ segmentation to prioritize focus and resources.
  • Escalate and manage supply chain disruptions (supplier delays, capacity shortages, logistics constraints), developing contingency plans such as alternative suppliers, freight changes, or allocation prioritization.
  • Prepare and present monthly review packages to commercial and finance stakeholders outlining forecast accuracy, inventory positions, P&L impact and recommended actions to achieve KPI targets.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, import/export regulations, customs documentation and corporate governance standards for international sourcing and vendor contracts.
  • Collaborate with finance to model the working capital impact of purchasing decisions, identify inventory write-offs and drive cost-to-serve improvements.
  • Conduct competitor and market intelligence to identify sourcing opportunities, pricing pressures, and category trends that inform buying strategies.
  • Maintain strong cross-functional relationships (warehouse, logistics, quality, customer service) to ensure seamless order fulfillment and continuous improvement in supply reliability.
  • Coordinate cycle counts, stock audits and supplier reconciliations to verify inventory accuracy and drive accountability back to procurement and trading partners.

Secondary Functions

  • Contribute to the organization's data strategy and roadmap.
  • Collaborate with business units to translate data needs into engineering requirements.
