Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Lead development of the enterprise-wide strategic plan by synthesizing market trends, competitive analysis, customer insights, and internal capability assessments into a clear 3–5 year corporate strategy that the board and executive team can operationalize.
  • Serve as the primary strategic advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors, preparing executive-level materials (briefings, board packs, scenario analyses) and presenting strategy recommendations and progress updates.
  • Own the corporate M&A agenda: source, evaluate and prioritize acquisition targets and strategic investments, lead diligence, negotiate deal structures with legal/finance teams, and direct integration planning and value capture.
  • Design and implement governance frameworks and cadence (strategy review, performance management, steering committees) to ensure strategic priorities are translated into measurable initiatives and predictable outcomes.
  • Build and maintain the company’s long-range financial model and scenario planning capability, integrating revenue growth drivers, margin levers, capital allocation trade-offs, and sensitivity analyses to inform strategic decisions.
  • Lead cross-functional transformation programs to scale growth and improve efficiency (e.g., go-to-market redesign, operating model changes, cost optimization programs), ensuring milestones, KPIs, and change management are addressed.
  • Identify and prioritize new market entry, product expansion, and monetization opportunities by conducting TAM/SAM/SOM analyses, pricing strategy, and go-to-market planning with commercial leaders.
  • Oversee competitive intelligence and market research functions, turning primary and secondary research into actionable insights that influence product roadmaps, positioning, and strategic bets.
  • Define and track strategic KPIs and dashboards (growth, margin expansion, ROIC, customer metrics), work with FP&A to embed metrics in financial reporting and management incentives.
  • Create and execute strategic partnerships and alliance strategies, negotiating commercial terms and managing strategic partner relationships to accelerate capability and scale.
  • Lead corporate portfolio management: assess business unit performance, recommend reshaping of business mix (spin-offs, divestitures, portfolio pruning) and reprioritize capital deployment accordingly.
  • Develop and run corporate innovation and incubation programs—pilot new business models, oversee venture investments, and scale successful pilots into core lines of business.
  • Align organizational structure and talent strategy with strategic priorities; work with CHRO to identify critical leadership gaps and build succession and capability plans for strategic roles.
  • Drive digital and data-driven strategy initiatives, ensuring investments in analytics, AI/ML, and digital platforms are prioritized to deliver strategic differentiation and operational efficiency.
  • Manage investor-facing strategy communications: support investor relations with strategy narratives, acquisition rationales, and Q&A for earnings calls and roadshows.
  • Lead post-merger integration (PMI) and carve-out execution teams, ensuring operational continuity, synergy capture, retention of key talent, and cultural integration that preserve value.
  • Champion ESG, sustainability, and regulatory strategy as strategic differentiators—integrate environmental, social, and governance considerations into long-term strategic planning and capital allocation decisions.
  • Coordinate enterprise risk and strategic risk assessments—identify, quantify, and mitigate external and execution risks to strategic initiatives, including geopolitical, regulatory, and cyber risk considerations.
  • Lead pricing and revenue management strategy development—implement pricing governance, value-based pricing frameworks, and margin optimization programs across product lines.
  • Build, lead and mentor a high-performing Strategy & Corporate Development team; set operating model, recruiting priorities, career paths and performance goals to scale strategic capability across the organization.
  • Partner with product, engineering, sales and marketing leaders to translate strategy into product roadmaps, go-to-market plans, channel strategy, and customer segmentation that drives adoption and profitable growth.
  • Drive cross-border expansion strategy including regulatory assessment, local partnerships, and operating model adaptation to unlock international growth while minimizing execution risk.
  • Oversee scenario planning and war-gaming for major strategic decisions, evaluating upside/ downside cases and preparing contingency playbooks to respond quickly to market shifts.
  • Lead continuous improvement in strategic planning processes, introducing best practices (OKRs, zero-based planning, agile strategy sprints) to accelerate decision cycles and execution speed.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc strategic analyses, business case development, and exploratory data-driven research to inform leadership decisions and capital allocation.
  • Contribute to the organization’s analytics and data strategy by partnering with the Chief Data Officer to ensure strategic metrics, dashboards, and data governance align with corporate strategy.
  • Collaborate with business units to translate strategy into operational plans, annual budgets, and engineering/product backlog priorities.
  • Participate in executive steering committees, program governance forums, and cross-functional design sessions to support program delivery and remove execution blockers.
  • Prepare and maintain executive-ready slide decks, communications, and talking points for investor meetings, board updates, town halls, and major stakeholder briefings.
  • Consult with external advisors (consultancies, legal and financial advisors, investment banks) and manage RFPs and vendor selection to augment internal strategic capabilities when needed.
  • Coordinate strategic workforce planning and help guide compensation/incentive design to ensure alignment between pay, performance, and company strategy.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field.

Preferred Education:

Typical Experience Range:

  • 12–20 years of experience including 5+ years in a senior leadership role (VP or above) with direct responsibility for strategy, M&A, transformation, or P&L management; demonstrable track record of leading large-scale strategic initiatives, successful transactions, and delivering sustained growth and value creation.
