  • Design and implement API strategy, developer ecosystems, and platform extensibility to enable integrations, third-party ecosystems, and partner engineering.
  • Own intellectual property strategy with legal: patents, licensing, open-source policy, and contributor agreements to protect innovation while leveraging community tools appropriately.
  • Set measurable engineering KPIs and OKRs (velocity, quality, uptime, cycle time) and report performance to the executive team and board, using metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead innovation initiatives and technology scouting—evaluate emerging technologies (AI/ML, edge computing, blockchain, serverless) and define proofs of concept that deliver competitive advantage.
  • Coordinate cross-functional programs for large-scale migrations, re-platforming, or cloud modernization while minimizing customer disruption and technical risk.
  • Serve as public-facing technical leader: represent the company at industry events, customer briefings, analyst meetings, and with strategic accounts to build credibility and trust.
  • Develop and execute hiring and retention strategies for technical talent, including compensation benchmarking, remote/hybrid team models, and diversity/inclusion programs.
  • Institute robust incident management and crisis response processes, including runbooks, escalation paths, postmortems, and corrective action tracking to reduce recurrence.
  • Ensure alignment between technology contracts, SLAs, and service delivery with legal and procurement to reduce vendor risk and optimize commercial terms.
  • Oversee platform reliability and customer success collaboration to ensure product stability, performance tuning, and rapid resolution of escalations affecting revenue-critical customers.
