- Model, texture, light, and animate simple to complex 3D assets in Cinema 4D or Blender; integrate 3D renders into 2D comps and motion graphics timelines while optimizing for render time and quality.
- Build reusable motion templates, modular assets, and project libraries (After Effects templates, Premiere Motion Graphics templates, C4D scenes) to scale production and reduce turn time for recurring formats.
- Implement and optimize render pipelines, compositing workflows (After Effects, Nuke when required), and color workflows (ACES or industry-standard) to deliver broadcast-safe, brand-consistent final masters.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with creative directors, brand, marketing, product, and engineering to scope projects, set timelines, and establish measurement criteria for campaign success.
- Present creative work and technical solutions to internal stakeholders or clients; interpret feedback and iterate quickly while preserving creative intent and delivery schedules.
- Conduct quality control and technical checks for all deliverables β codecs, aspect ratios, color spaces, captions/subtitle files, and platform-specific specs (IGTV, Reels, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn).
- Integrate audio design and sound cues into motion pieces, working with in-house sound designers or external audio vendors to ensure synchronous visual and sonic storytelling.
- Maintain project documentation, file organization, and version control for large-scale campaigns; enforce naming conventions and archive completed assets for future reuse.
- Mentor and review the work of junior motion designers, providing constructive feedback on animation principles, composition, timing, and software techniques to grow team capability.
- Drive experimentation with new tools, plugins, techniques (e.g., MoGraph, Redshift/Octane, Real-time engines like Unreal), and visual trends; propose pilot projects that demonstrate new capabilities or process improvements.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, balancing creative integrity with time and budget constraints while coordinating external vendors, voiceover talent, and production partners when required.
- Create visually compelling explainer animations and product walkthroughs that simplify complex features into clear, concise narratives optimized for conversion and onboarding metrics.
- Prepare and export platform-ready video assets with metadata (thumbnails, subtitles, aspect-ratio variants), ensuring optimized file size, bitrate, and visual fidelity for mobile and web delivery.
- Define and document motion guidelines and a motion system for the brand (animation speed, easing curves, transitions, micro-interaction standards) to maintain consistency across teams and products.
- Troubleshoot technical issues across rendering, compositing, and pipeline stages; propose and implement fixes to speed up iteration and reduce production risk.
- Collaborate with photography, illustration, and design teams to integrate mixed-media elements (filmed footage, illustrations, 3D renders) into cohesive animated narratives.
- Perform A/B creative testing for motion variations and iterate based on performance data and qualitative feedback to maximize CTR, view-through rate, and engagement KPIs.
- Ensure accessibility and localization best practices are followed in motion content, including readable typography, captioning/closed captions, and culturally appropriate adaptations for global audiences.
- Own post-delivery support: produce quick-turn edits, format conversions, and updates for live campaigns or product releases based on stakeholder requests or performance insights.
Secondary Functions
- Support project planning by estimating time, resource needs, and creative scope during intake to help producers create accurate timelines and budgets.
- Assemble and hand off layered source files and style guides to production engineers, developers, or downstream vendors for implementation in apps, sites, or installations.
- Maintain and update a shared asset library (templates, LUTs, presets, 3D primitives, sound fx) so the team can quickly execute on standard formats and brand-approved components.
- Coordinate with external post houses, freelance animators, and VFX vendors when scaling for large campaigns or specialized 3D/VFX needs.
- Run regular maintenance and updates on software licenses, plugins, and render farm access to reduce downtime and ensure creative continuity.
- Assist marketing and social teams with rapid-turn edits and format adaptations to react to performance data or time-sensitive newsjacking opportunities.
- Participate in creative reviews and postmortems to capture learnings, identify process bottlenecks, and recommend tooling or workflow improvements.
- Keep project trackers and production notes current so stakeholders can view progress and blockers at a glance.
- Support the recruitment and onboarding of junior motion team members by developing training materials and sample briefs.
- Help define KPIs for motion assets and collaborate with analytics to attribute creative impact and optimize future creative direction.
