Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Read architectural plans, site drawings and homeowner specifications to accurately lay out deck locations, ledger positions, joist spans, post and footing placements, ensuring compliance with local building codes and engineered drawings.
Install ledger boards, rim joists, and framing members with correct flashing details and ledger attachment fasteners to prevent water intrusion and ensure long-term structural integrity.

Execute finish carpentry tasks on decks: trim, fascia, skirting, under-deck soffits and custom built-in benches, planters and lighting integration for a polished end-product.
Conduct pre-installation site inspections for grading, drainage, and structure attachment points, recommend site preparation or drainage improvements to avoid future decking issues.
Prepare decks for finishing: sanding, staining, sealing and applying protective coatings where applicable and advise homeowners on maintenance for longevity.
Assist with permit acquisition by providing required site measures, drawings, and documentation to municipal building departments and scheduling inspections until final sign-off.

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
