Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Execute safe and efficient mooring, unmooring and berthing operations including line handling, fender placement, dock watch and safe communications with bridge/helm to ensure smooth port arrivals and departures.

Assist with provisioning, stores receipt, and stowage management including tracking consumables, perishable items and hazardous goods in compliance with ship’s procedures.
Perform general carpentry and metalwork repairs on deck structures, fittings and fixtures, using basic power and hand tools while observing safety protocols.
Conduct preventative maintenance walks, lubrication of fittings, and report emergent deck safety hazards to the bosun or officer in charge.
