- Design and iterate on responsive UI patterns and component layouts that maintain visual fidelity and accessibility across breakpoints; produce annotated specifications for handoff to front-end engineers.
- Develop and maintain a scalable design system (tokens, components, guidelines) to ensure consistent brand presence, reduce duplication, and accelerate product delivery; document usage rules, states, accessibility requirements, and responsive behavior.
- Collaborate with product managers and UX researchers to synthesize user research findings and analytics into prioritized design solutions that address measurable user and business objectives.
- Produce high-quality marketing creative and campaign assets for digital channels (social, display, email, landing pages), ensuring alignment between product UX and brand marketing while optimizing for conversion and performance.
- Translate complex technical or product requirements into simple, elegant visual solutions by producing annotated design specs, developer-ready assets, SVGs, and exported assets in appropriate formats for web and app implementation.
- Lead cross-functional design reviews and critique sessions to validate visual direction, interaction details, and technical feasibility; iterate on feedback while balancing business priorities and user needs.
- Prototype flows and micro-interactions using tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Principle, or Framer to validate animations, timing, and transitions before engineering implementation.
- Conduct accessibility audits and implement inclusive design practices: ensure color contrast, keyboard navigation, screen reader support, semantic markup guidance, and documented accessibility patterns are followed.
- Work closely with engineering teams during sprint planning and implementation to resolve open design questions, QA UI implementation for pixel accuracy, and ensure performance-conscious asset delivery.
- Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation and release notes for each product increment that describe behavior, states, and any known constraints to enable smooth cross-team adoption.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, balancing rapid experimental designs with long-term product design debt reduction and system evolution; prioritize work based on ROI and product strategy.
- Produce on-brand iconography, illustration assets, and motion assets aligned to visual language; maintain an asset library with versioning that supports both product and marketing needs.
- Run A/B tests and design experiments with product teams to measure the impact of visual and interaction changes, iterating designs based on quantitative results and qualitative feedback.
- Mentor junior designers and contractors through critique, design pairing, and constructive feedback to improve team craft and consistency across projects.
- Partner with analytics and growth teams to instrument designs and define success metrics, using data to inform design decisions and roadmap prioritization.
- Ensure internationalization and localization needs are considered in layouts, copy length, and visual treatments; coordinate with localization teams to adapt components and assets appropriately.
- Create and manage production-ready design deliverables (SVGs, optimized images, font usage documentation) and provide clear guidance for asset compression, retina images, and responsive image sets.
- Contribute to brand strategy by aligning digital UI patterns and marketing materials with brand guidelines, voice, and tone; propose updates to brand systems as digital products evolve.
- Drive continuous improvement of design processes and toolchains (component libraries, Figma plugin usage, build integrations) to improve collaboration, speed, and handoff fidelity.
Secondary Functions
- Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis.
- Contribute to the organization's data strategy and roadmap.
- Collaborate with business units to translate data needs into engineering requirements.
- Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies within the data engineering team.
- Maintain and update a centralized repository of design assets, version history, and component usage metrics to inform design decisions and reduce duplication.
- Assist marketing and sales teams with campaign creative, presentation decks, and trade show materials that require digital-first design sensibilities.
- Support user testing sessions by preparing test prototypes, facilitating sessions, and synthesizing feedback into actionable design changes.
- Help estimate design effort for feature work, contributing to roadmap planning and capacity forecasting for the design team.
- Coordinate with external agencies, freelancers, and contractors to ensure delivered work aligns with internal quality standards, timelines, and brand guidelines.
- Engage in competitive analysis and design trend research to inform product decisions and recommend modern, evidence-based visual patterns.
