- Build and manage reusable animation systems, templates, and motion libraries (e.g., AE templates, C4D scenes, Lottie JSON assets) to accelerate production and ensure consistency across campaigns.
- Implement expression-driven animations, scripting (Expressions, Python or C4D Xpresso), and procedural techniques to automate complex motion tasks and improve iteration speed.
- Export, optimize, and prepare delivery assets for multiple formats โ H.264/HEVC, ProRes, WebM, GIF, and Lottie โ ensuring correct color profiles, codecs, frame rates, and file sizes for each platform.
- Work closely with sound designers and editors to craft integrated audio-visual experiences: edit temp sound, provide direction for sound design, and time animation to music and effects.
- Collaborate with UX and front-end teams to design and hand off motion specifications, keyframes, and Lottie/HTML5 animations for implementation in apps and websites.
- Lead the creation of broadcast-ready motion elements (stings, lower thirds, show openers) with attention to channel standards, cue sheets, and deliverable checklists.
- Maintain organized project files, naming conventions, version history, and archival processes to support handoffs, revisions, and collaboration with remote teams.
- Conduct quality assurance and final QC checks on deliverables for technical accuracy (chroma subsampling, audio sync, interlacing, safe areas) and brand fidelity before client or stakeholder approvals.
- Iterate on concepts and perform creative problem solving in response to user testing, performance metrics, A/B test results, and stakeholder feedback to refine animation effectiveness.
- Mentor junior motion designers and freelancers; provide tactical feedback on animation principles, timing, pacing, and compositing workflows to uplift team output.
- Manage stakeholder communications and project timelines using production management tools (Asana, Jira, Trello, Monday) to ensure milestones, approvals, and deliveries are met.
- Translate static brand assets and campaign creative into dynamic motion systems, ensuring typography, color, and compositional hierarchy translate correctly in animated form.
- Develop visually engaging product explainer animations and feature walkthroughs that simplify complex concepts and increase user comprehension and conversion.
- Create immersive and interactive motion for experiential or event-based installations, including projection mapping assets, high-resolution playback sequences, and triggerable motion loops.
- Research and apply current motion trends, animation techniques, and platform best practices (vertical video, looping, micro-interactions) to keep creative output fresh and effective.
- Prepare and present creative concepts, animatics, and deliverables to internal stakeholders or clients; collect and prioritize feedback, then translate notes into actionable revisions.
- Troubleshoot and optimize render pipelines, caching strategies, and export workflows to meet strict deadlines and minimize technical bottlenecks in post production.
Secondary Functions
- Support cross-functional teams by creating motion assets for product launches, email campaigns, and paid social content with analytics-driven performance goals.
- Maintain and continuously improve a centralized motion asset library and documentation for templates, naming conventions, and implementation notes.
- Stay current on emerging tools (real-time engines, AR/VR frameworks, GPU renderers) and propose pilot projects to evaluate new capabilities for the studio.
- Collaborate with engineering to ensure motion specs translate cleanly into production โ provide Lottie tests, After Effects-to-React handoffs, or animated SVGs for developers.
- Participate in sprint planning, creative reviews, and post-mortems to refine production processes and reduce bottlenecks in animation delivery.
- Contribute to creative pitches and RFP responses by preparing showreels, tailored animatics, and technical breakdowns of motion capabilities.
- Assist in recruiting and onboarding contractors or junior designers, including design tests, portfolio reviews, and initial mentoring sessions.
- Track and report on time spent per project to inform resourcing, budgeting, and long-term production planning.
