Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Lead end-to-end program delivery for multi-release digital initiatives, owning scope definition, timeline development, resource planning and successful execution against business objectives and OKRs.
  • Define, maintain and communicate the program roadmap, aligning cross-functional teams and stakeholders to prioritized feature releases, milestones, and critical dependencies across engineering, design, marketing and operations.
  • Establish program governance, cadence and operating model (status reports, steering committees, risk registers, RACI matrices) to ensure predictable delivery and transparent decision-making for senior leadership.
  • Manage program financials, including budget creation, cost tracking, forecasting, procurement approvals and reporting variances to finance and stakeholders to maintain fiscal control.
  • Drive agile delivery practices across multiple teams—facilitating PI planning, sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives and release planning—to increase velocity and reduce time-to-market.
  • Own risk and issue management for the program: identify, quantify and mitigate risks, maintain an issues log, develop contingency plans and escalate to executives when necessary.
  • Coordinate vendor selection, contract negotiation and third-party management for agencies, integrators and cloud providers to meet program objectives and service-level agreements.
  • Partner with product managers and UX leads to translate business requirements into prioritized deliverables, acceptance criteria and user stories while ensuring high-quality user experience and accessibility standards.
  • Lead integrations and platform migration efforts (CRM, CMS, e-commerce, analytics) working closely with architects and engineering to define API requirements, data mappings and cutover plans.
  • Develop and monitor program success metrics and KPIs (engagement, conversion, performance, adoption), produce executive dashboards and deliver insights to drive optimization and strategic decisions.
  • Plan and execute releases and deployment activities across environments, coordinating release trains, rollback strategies, feature flags and communication to minimize customer impact.
  • Drive data-informed decision making by partnering with analytics and data engineering teams to instrument tracking, define experiments, analyze A/B test results and iterate on product outcomes.
  • Champion security, compliance and privacy requirements within the program—coordinate security reviews, penetration tests and ensure GDPR/CCPA or industry-specific regulatory adherence.
  • Orchestrate change management and adoption activities (training, stakeholder communications, support runbooks, documentation and launch plans) to maximize product uptake and minimize operational disruption.
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops, design sprints and stakeholder alignment sessions to validate assumptions, accelerate discovery and reduce rework during delivery.
  • Lead quality assurance strategy and UAT execution—define acceptance criteria, oversee testing plans, triage defects and ensure production readiness for each release.
  • Negotiate trade-offs between scope, time and cost with product and business stakeholders to maintain roadmap integrity and prioritize high-impact work.
  • Mentor, coach and develop junior program managers and delivery leads—establish best practices, templates and continuous improvement initiatives within the program management function.
  • Conduct post-launch retrospectives and program post-mortems to capture learnings, quantify business impact and implement process improvements for future programs.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships at all levels—translate complex technical topics into clear business language for executives while ensuring transparency and trust with operational teams.
  • Optimize program delivery processes (Agile scaling frameworks, PMO tooling, automation of status reporting) to reduce overhead and improve predictability and throughput.
  • Ensure documentation and knowledge transfer across teams—maintain program artifacts (charters, roadmaps, runbooks, architecture diagrams) to support operational continuity and audits.
