Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive strategies for the collection, sorting, transportation, and recycling of all electronic waste streams.
  • Ensure and document full compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations, including EPA guidelines and specific e-waste legislation.
  • Conduct regular, thorough audits and site inspections of e-waste collection points, consolidation facilities, and downstream recycling partners.
  • Vet, select, and manage relationships with third-party e-waste recycling vendors, ensuring they hold and maintain certifications such as R2, e-Stewards, and ISO 14001.
  • Negotiate contracts and service level agreements with recycling and logistics partners to optimize cost, efficiency, and environmental outcomes.
  • Maintain meticulous, auditable records of all e-waste streams, including volumes, types, chain of custody, and final disposition certificates.
  • Prepare and present detailed performance reports on e-waste metrics, diversion rates, and program costs for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Lead the design and execution of public outreach and educational campaigns to increase awareness and participation in e-waste recycling programs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all inquiries and issues related to electronic waste management from employees, clients, and the public.
  • Collaborate with IT, Facilities, and Procurement departments to establish and enforce policies for the entire lifecycle of electronic assets.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for staff on the proper identification, handling, segregation, and storage of e-waste.
  • Stay current with evolving e-waste regulations, industry best practices, and emerging recycling technologies to ensure program excellence.
  • Manage the budget for e-waste management activities, including forecasting expenses, tracking costs, and identifying opportunities for cost savings.

  • Waste Stream Analysis: Ability to analyze, categorize, and quantify different types of electronic waste.
  • Vendor & Contract Management: Experience in sourcing, negotiating with, and managing third-party service providers.
  • Logistics & Supply Chain Management: Proficiency in coordinating transportation, collection, and processing of materials.
  • Data Reporting & Analytics: Skill in using tools like Excel or BI software to track metrics and generate insightful reports.
  • Audit & Compliance Monitoring: Experience conducting formal inspections and verifying adherence to standards.
