Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop, own, and execute a comprehensive content strategy and a forward-looking editorial calendar to ensure a consistent and engaging publication schedule.
  • Manage the end-to-end production lifecycle of the e-zine, from brainstorming and ideation through to writing, design, publication, and post-launch analysis.
  • Write, commission, edit, and proofread a diverse range of long-form and short-form content, including feature articles, interviews, opinion pieces, and listicles, ensuring impeccable quality and adherence to our brand voice.
  • Source, manage, and nurture a network of freelance writers, photographers, illustrators, and other creative contributors, handling contracts and payments.
  • Conceptualize and execute visually stunning layouts and graphic elements using design software, ensuring a cohesive and modern aesthetic for every issue.
  • Oversee and manage the email marketing platform for e-zine distribution, including list segmentation, automation, and A/B testing to optimize performance.
  • Formulate and implement aggressive audience growth strategies to expand our subscriber base through organic search, social media, partnerships, and paid channels.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs), such as open rates, click-through rates, subscriber growth, and on-site engagement, delivering regular performance reports to stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute monetization strategies, including securing advertising placements, affiliate partnerships, and sponsored content opportunities.
  • Act as the primary brand guardian for the e-zine, ensuring all content, visuals, and communications consistently reflect the organization's tone, style, and values.
  • Conduct in-depth SEO keyword research and apply on-page and technical SEO best practices to all content to maximize organic search visibility.
  • Create and schedule compelling promotional content for various social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.) to drive traffic and engagement for each new issue.

Secondary Functions

  • Stay relentlessly current with emerging trends in digital publishing, email marketing, content strategy, and design to keep the e-zine innovative and competitive.
  • Manage the e-zine's budget, tracking all expenses related to freelance contributions, software subscriptions, and marketing initiatives.
  • Repurpose and syndicate e-zine content for other digital channels, such as the company blog, social media highlights, and video scripts, to maximize reach.
  • Actively monitor and engage with reader feedback and comments, fostering a strong sense of community and using insights to inform future content.
  • Conduct regular, thorough competitor analysis to identify content gaps, emerging topics, and strategic opportunities within our niche.
  • Secure and manage cross-promotional partnerships with complementary brands, influencers, and publications to reach new audiences.
  • Maintain a well-organized digital archive of all past e-zine issues, creative assets, and freelance contributor information.
  • Ensure all published content, including images and text, is fully compliant with copyright laws and data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
