Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Assist licensed electricians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, ensuring all work complies with NEC and local building codes.
Measure, cut, bend, thread, and install electrical conduit (EMT, IMC, RMC) using specialized hand and power tools to create pathways for wiring.
Pull electrical conductors, cables, and fiber optics through conduit, raceways, and wall cavities with precision and care to prevent damage.
Perform trenching, digging, and backfilling for the installation of underground conduit and direct burial cables.
Mount and secure electrical components, including junction boxes, panels, switches, outlets, and light fixtures, according to blueprints and specifications.
Safely strip, splice, and terminate wires to devices and fixtures under the direct supervision and guidance of a Journeyman or Master Electrician.
Aid in the troubleshooting of complex electrical circuits and systems by using testing devices such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, and clamp-on ammeters to identify issues.
Read and interpret electrical blueprints, technical schematics, and wiring diagrams to understand project layouts and the placement of components.
Drill holes in various structures, including walls, ceilings, and floors, to properly route electrical wiring and install conduit systems.
Assemble and install electrical panelboards, switchgear, and other distribution equipment as directed by the lead electrician.
Assist in performing routine and preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to ensure optimal functionality, safety, and longevity.
Replace defective or outdated electrical components, such as breakers, fuses, switches, and receptacles, under qualified supervision.
Support the commissioning and final testing phases of new electrical installations to verify proper operation and compliance with safety standards.
Help in the layout and planning of electrical installations by taking precise measurements and marking locations for fixtures, outlets, and equipment.
Install and secure raceway and cable tray systems to provide structural support for extensive wiring runs in commercial and industrial environments.

Secondary Functions

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment by cleaning up work areas, organizing materials, and properly storing tools and equipment at the end of each day.
Gather and transport necessary tools, materials, and equipment to and from the worksite, ensuring everything is available for the day's tasks to maximize efficiency.
Strictly adhere to all company and OSHA safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and active hazard identification.
Participate actively in daily safety briefings, "toolbox talks," and training sessions to stay informed on potential job site hazards and safety best practices.
Assist with basic inventory management by tracking the usage of supplies and materials, and promptly reporting any shortages to the lead electrician or site supervisor.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

Foundational knowledge of electrical theory, including AC/DC circuits, voltage, and Ohm's Law.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical drawings.
Proficiency in the use of essential hand and power tools, such as wire strippers, conduit benders, drills, and multimeters.
Basic understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant safety regulations.
Familiarity with common electrical components, materials, and hardware (e.g., wiring, conduit, outlets, switches, breakers).
