Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Interpret and work from complex technical documents, including electrical blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering specifications to determine wiring layout and installation procedures.
Perform point-to-point wiring, ensuring all connections are correct, secure, and routed efficiently within control panels, switchgear, and other electrical enclosures.
Measure, cut, bend, thread, and install electrical conduit (EMT, Rigid, PVC) and other raceways to protect and route electrical wiring throughout facilities and equipment.
Skillfully pull and terminate a wide range of wire and cable types, connecting them to circuit breakers, transformers, outlets, lighting fixtures, motors, and other electrical components.
Assemble, install, and wire industrial control panels from the ground up, mounting components such as PLCs, relays, VFDs, contactors, and terminal blocks.
Perform diagnostic tests on electrical systems and components to identify and troubleshoot issues, including shorts, grounds, and continuity failures, using multimeters, clamp meters, and insulation testers.
Execute all electrical installations and repairs in strict compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), as well as state, local, and company-specific safety regulations.
Conduct preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to ensure operational reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
Install and connect power supply wiring to machinery and equipment, ensuring proper voltage, phasing, and grounding for safe and effective operation.
Terminate high and low voltage wiring according to precise specifications, demonstrating proficiency with various connector and termination types.
Mount and install a variety of electrical hardware, including junction boxes, transformers, disconnects, and support structures, ensuring they are level, secure, and properly positioned.
Fabricate and install custom wire harnesses and cable assemblies, ensuring neatness, proper labeling, and adherence to design specifications.
Adhere to all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures when performing service or maintenance on equipment to ensure a zero-energy state and prevent accidents.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times, properly disposing of scrap wire and other materials.
Document all work performed, including modifications to drawings, materials used, and time logs for accurate project tracking and future reference.
Inspect and test final installations to confirm circuit integrity, functionality, and overall quality of workmanship before commissioning.
Collaborate effectively with engineers, project managers, and other trade professionals to coordinate project schedules and resolve technical challenges.
Operate power tools, hand tools, and specialized electrical equipment safely and proficiently to complete all assigned tasks.
Assist in the layout and planning of new electrical installations, providing practical input based on field experience.
Perform quality checks on incoming electrical components to ensure they meet project specifications and are free from defects.
Use aerial lifts, scissor lifts, and other mobile equipment to safely access and work in elevated locations.

Secondary Functions

Maintain an accurate inventory of essential electrical parts, components, and supplies, and request new materials as needed.
Participate actively in daily toolbox talks, safety meetings, and continuous improvement workshops.

Hard Skills (Technical)

Blueprint & Schematic Reading: Ability to expertly read, interpret, and apply information from complex electrical drawings and schematics.
Control Panel Wiring: Proven experience in layout, assembly, and point-to-point wiring of industrial control panels.
Conduit Installation: Proficiency in bending, cutting, and installing various types of electrical conduit.
Wire Termination & Splicing: Skill in terminating wires and cables using various connectors and methods for both low and high voltage applications.

Education & Experience

Educational Background
