Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Conduct comprehensive preventative maintenance on traction and hydraulic elevators, escalators, and other vertical transport equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting components to ensure peak performance and longevity.
Perform systematic technical inspections and safety tests on new and existing installations to verify compliance with all applicable safety codes, standards, and regulations, such as ASME A17.1.
Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electromechanical, hydraulic, and control system malfunctions using advanced diagnostic tools, multimeters, and technical schematics.
Execute intricate repairs, which may involve replacing or overhauling motors, brakes, control panels, door operators, ropes, and hydraulic pumps.
Respond promptly to emergency service calls, safely assessing situations, identifying faults, and performing necessary repairs to return equipment to service with minimal downtime.
Read and interpret complex blueprints, diagrams, and wiring schematics to accurately guide installation, modernization, and repair activities.
Install new elevator and escalator systems, from assembling the car and framework to wiring control systems and ensuring a smooth, safe final turnover to the client.
Participate in elevator modernization projects, upgrading older systems with new technology to improve safety, efficiency, and performance.
Perform detailed testing and adjustments of safety devices, including governors, safeties, and buffers, to guarantee they function correctly in an emergency.
Maintain a precise log of all maintenance, inspections, and repairs performed on each unit, documenting parts used, time spent, and recommendations for future work.
Communicate effectively with building managers, clients, and tenants to explain the nature of a problem, the scope of the repair, and the estimated time to completion.
Manage and maintain an inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment on a service vehicle, ensuring readiness for a wide range of service calls.
