Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Manage the end-to-end production of email marketing campaigns, including planning, copywriting, setup, QA testing, scheduling, and deployment.
  • Own and maintain the master email marketing calendar, coordinating with various departments to ensure a cohesive and strategic communication schedule.
  • Develop and execute audience segmentation strategies to deliver personalized and relevant content to different user groups, enhancing engagement and conversion rates.
  • Build responsive email templates using HTML/CSS and WYSIWYG editors within our Email Service Provider (ESP) platform.
  • Conduct rigorous A/B and multivariate tests on subject lines, email content, CTAs, send times, and layouts to continuously improve key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Monitor and analyze campaign performance metrics, including open rates, click-through rates, conversion rates, and unsubscribe rates, providing regular performance reports with actionable insights.
  • Manage the health and growth of our email subscriber database, implementing list growth strategies and ensuring data hygiene and compliance with regulations like CAN-SPAM and GDPR.
  • Develop and implement automated email workflows and lifecycle marketing programs, such as welcome series, re-engagement campaigns, and post-purchase follow-ups.
  • Collaborate with the creative and content teams to develop compelling copy, imagery, and assets that align with brand voice and campaign goals.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to email rendering, list segmentation, and campaign automation to ensure a seamless user experience.
  • Stay current with email marketing best practices, industry trends, and new technologies to identify and implement new opportunities for growth.
  • Document all email marketing processes, from campaign briefing and setup to reporting and analysis, to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Manage the proofreading and quality assurance process for all email communications, ensuring they are error-free, on-brand, and optimized for all devices.
  • Report on the direct impact of email marketing efforts on lead generation, customer retention, and overall revenue.
  • Execute triggered and transactional email campaigns, ensuring they are timely, accurate, and provide value to the customer journey.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist in the development and execution of SMS/MMS marketing campaigns as a complementary channel to email.
  • Collaborate with the social media and content teams to align messaging and promotions for integrated, cross-channel marketing campaigns.
  • Support the broader marketing team with copywriting for landing pages, ad campaigns, and other marketing collateral as needed.
  • Pull and analyze customer data from various sources to provide insights that inform personalization and segmentation strategies.
  • Contribute to the testing and optimization of website landing pages associated with email marketing campaigns to improve conversion funnels.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Email Service Providers (ESPs): Proficiency with major platforms such as Mailchimp, HubSpot, Klaviyo, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or similar.
  • Marketing Automation: Experience building and managing automated workflows, drip campaigns, and customer journeys.
  • HTML/CSS for Email: Basic to intermediate knowledge of HTML and CSS for troubleshooting and building responsive email templates.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Ability to analyze campaign data, generate insightful reports, and use metrics to inform strategy.
  • A/B Testing: Proven experience designing, executing, and interpreting the results of A/B and multivariate tests.
  • Google Analytics: Familiarity with using Google Analytics to track email traffic, user behavior, and conversion goals.
  • List Segmentation: Strong understanding of database segmentation techniques and customer data management.
