Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop, execute, and continuously evolve a comprehensive, global employee wellness strategy that addresses all pillars of wellbeing, including mental, physical, social, and financial health.
  • Design and manage an annual wellness program calendar, budget, and communications plan to drive awareness, participation, and engagement across a diverse and distributed workforce.
  • Serve as the organization's primary subject matter expert on employee health and wellness, staying ahead of emerging trends, scientific research, and best practices to ensure our programs are innovative and effective.
  • Lead the selection, implementation, and ongoing management of wellness-related vendors, platforms, and partners, ensuring a high-quality, seamless employee experience and a strong return on investment.
  • Utilize data analytics and employee feedback (surveys, focus groups) to conduct needs assessments, measure program effectiveness (ROI and VOI), and report on key wellness metrics to senior leadership.
  • Partner closely with executive leadership to champion a culture of health and gain buy-in for key initiatives, demonstrating the clear link between employee wellbeing and business performance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HR Business Partners, Benefits, DE&I, Internal Communications, and Legal teams to embed wellness principles into all aspects of the employee lifecycle.
  • Create and lead a network of wellness champions or committees to foster grassroots support and engagement for wellness initiatives at local and team levels.
  • Develop and oversee mental health support systems, including Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), mental health first aid training, and resources to reduce stigma and promote psychological safety.
  • Design and facilitate workshops, training sessions, and large-scale events that educate and empower employees and managers on topics like stress management, resilience, and burnout prevention.
  • Ensure all wellness programs and communications are inclusive, accessible, and culturally relevant for a global employee population.
  • Provide strategic guidance on the integration of wellness into our benefits design, total rewards philosophy, and overall employee value proposition.
  • Lead the organization’s response to public health crises, providing timely resources, support, and communication to employees and leaders.
  • Coach and advise senior leaders and managers on how to model healthy behaviors and create work environments that support employee wellbeing.
  • Establish clear goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), and dashboards to track the progress and impact of the entire wellness portfolio.

Secondary Functions

  • Act as a key consultant for workplace design and policy-making, providing input on how the physical and remote work environments can better support employee health.
  • Contribute thought leadership content, such as blog posts or internal articles, to position the company as an employer of choice dedicated to employee wellbeing.
  • Manage compliance with relevant health and data privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR) in the context of wellness program administration.
  • Support employee resource groups (ERGs) by providing resources, expertise, and partnership opportunities for their wellness-focused events and initiatives.
  • Participate in external industry forums and conferences to represent the company and benchmark our wellness strategy against other leading organizations.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Strategic Program Design & Management: Proven ability to build and scale comprehensive wellness strategies from the ground up.
  • Budgeting & Financial Acumen: Experience developing and managing significant departmental and programmatic budgets.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Proficiency in analyzing participation data, health metrics, and survey results to measure impact (ROI/VOI) and inform strategy.
  • Vendor Management: Expertise in sourcing, negotiating with, and managing relationships with third-party wellness vendors and providers.
  • Project Management: Strong command of project management methodologies to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives from conception to completion.
  • Knowledge of Health & Benefits: Deep understanding of corporate benefits, EAPs, health insurance, and related legal/compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, ADA).

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:

  • Master’s Degree in a related field is highly desirable.
  • Certifications such as Certified Corporate Wellness Specialist (CCWS) or Certified Wellness Program Coordinator (CWPC) are a plus.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 8-12+ years of progressive experience in corporate wellness, human resources, or a related field, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or strategic management capacity.

  • Proven track record of designing and implementing successful, large-scale wellness programs within a corporate environment.
  • Experience working in a global or matrixed organization.
  • Direct experience in building and leading a team of wellness professionals or champions.
