Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Conduct comprehensive, problem-focused health histories and physical examinations for new and established patients with a wide range of endocrine and metabolic conditions.
Develop, implement, and meticulously evaluate individualized, evidence-based treatment plans for patients with diabetes (Type 1, Type 2, LADA, Gestational), thyroid disorders, and other hormonal imbalances.
Independently prescribe and manage complex medication regimens, including insulin therapies, oral and injectable anti-diabetic agents, hormone replacement therapies, and medications for bone and mineral metabolism.
Order, interpret, and follow up on a diverse array of diagnostic laboratory tests, hormone stimulation/suppression tests, radiological imaging, thyroid ultrasounds, and bone density scans.
Provide in-depth patient and family education regarding disease pathophysiology, lifestyle modifications, nutritional principles, self-monitoring techniques, and medication administration.
Initiate and manage advanced diabetes technology, including Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) systems, insulin pumps, and smart pen devices, and interpret the data to optimize glycemic control.
Perform and document thorough assessments of patients for both acute and chronic complications related to their endocrine condition, making appropriate referrals to specialists like podiatry, ophthalmology, and nephrology.
Function with a high degree of autonomy in a clinical outpatient setting, managing your own patient schedule while maintaining a collaborative relationship with supervising physicians.
Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, including endocrinologists, registered dietitians, certified diabetes educators, pharmacists, and primary care providers, to ensure coordinated patient care.
Maintain exceptionally detailed, accurate, and timely documentation of all patient encounters, clinical decisions, and communications within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
Serve as a clinical expert and resource for other healthcare professionals, including nurses, medical assistants, and primary care providers, on the management of endocrine disorders.
Manage and respond to patient telephone calls, portal messages, and prescription refill requests in a timely and professional manner, providing clinical advice and triage as needed.
Participate actively in peer review, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical research projects aimed at enhancing the quality and safety of endocrine care.
Perform in-office procedures as credentialed and indicated, such as supervised fine-needle aspiration (FNA) of thyroid nodules or hormone pellet insertion.
Assess patient understanding and adherence to treatment plans, employing motivational interviewing and other behavioral techniques to overcome barriers to care.
Develop and lead group patient education sessions or workshops on topics like diabetes self-management, carbohydrate counting, or osteoporosis prevention.
Stay current with the latest advancements, clinical guidelines, and research in the field of endocrinology through continuous professional development and education.
Assist in the development and implementation of clinical protocols and standards of care for the endocrinology service line to ensure consistent, high-quality outcomes.
Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for patients undergoing endocrine-related surgeries, such as thyroidectomy or parathyroidectomy.
Diagnose and manage a spectrum of endocrine disorders including, but not limited to, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), osteoporosis, hyperlipidemia, pituitary adenomas, and adrenal insufficiency.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
