Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Proactively identify, prospect, and engage new commercial and industrial clients through high-volume cold calling, targeted email campaigns, networking events, and strategic partner referrals.
  • Develop and manage a robust lead generation pipeline using CRM software to track activity, manage client data, and forecast sales targets.
  • Conduct thorough discovery calls and meetings to understand a potential client's business operations, energy needs, current contract situation, and key decision-making drivers.
  • Collect and meticulously analyze clients' historical energy consumption data, utility invoices, and existing supplier contracts to identify cost-saving opportunities and strategic risks.
  • Educate clients on the fundamentals of energy markets, including wholesale price drivers, regulatory changes, transmission costs, and different procurement product structures.
  • Formulate and present customized, data-driven procurement strategies and proposals that clearly outline recommended actions, potential savings, and risk mitigation tactics.
  • Prepare and submit tenders to a broad portfolio of approved energy suppliers, ensuring all client requirements are accurately represented.
  • Skillfully negotiate pricing, contract terms, and conditions with energy suppliers on behalf of clients to secure the most favorable and competitive outcomes.
  • Manage the end-to-end sales cycle, from initial contact and proposal to contract closing and successful supplier transition for the client.
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for a dedicated portfolio of clients, fostering long-term partnerships built on trust, transparency, and exceptional service.
  • Provide ongoing market intelligence and risk management advice to existing clients, alerting them to market shifts and opportunities for mid-contract adjustments or renewals.
  • Handle all client queries, issues, and objections with professionalism and efficiency, liaising with suppliers as necessary to ensure swift resolution.
  • Develop a deep understanding of complex energy products, including fixed-price contracts, flexible purchasing strategies (Flex), and Pass-Through agreements.
  • Consistently achieve and exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets for revenue, margin, and new client acquisition.
  • Stay current with trends, legislation, and technological advancements in the energy, renewables, and sustainability sectors to provide informed, forward-thinking advice.
  • Prepare, review, and ensure the accuracy of all client-facing and supplier-facing documentation, including letters of authority, tenders, and final contracts.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as pricing analysts, operations, and compliance, to ensure a seamless and positive client experience.
  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews with clients to discuss contract performance, budget variance, and future energy strategy.
  • Actively seek out opportunities for up-selling and cross-selling additional services, such as energy efficiency solutions, compliance services, or renewable energy options.
  • Maintain an expert-level knowledge of the supplier landscape, including their product offerings, pricing tendencies, and credit requirements.
  • Represent the company with a high degree of professionalism and integrity at all industry events, conferences, and client meetings.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis to identify broader market trends.
  • Contribute to the organization's sales strategy, product development, and go-to-market roadmap.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to develop case studies, testimonials, and sales collateral.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • B2B Sales & Prospecting: Demonstrable experience in lead generation, cold calling, and closing deals in a business-to-business environment.
  • Contract Negotiation: Proven ability to negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers and other external parties.
