Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Design and implement comprehensive, engaging, and customized lesson plans tailored to individual student needs, proficiency levels, and specific learning objectives (e.g., conversational fluency, business English, academic writing).
  • Conduct dynamic one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions, both online and in-person, focusing on all four key language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
  • Assess students' initial English language abilities using diagnostic tools and ongoing observation to establish a clear baseline and set achievable learning goals.
  • Provide constructive, detailed, and encouraging feedback on student assignments, essays, and conversational practice to foster continuous improvement and build self-confidence.
  • Utilize a diverse range of teaching materials, multimedia resources, digital tools, and educational technology to create an interactive and stimulating learning environment.
  • Prepare students for major standardized English proficiency tests, including TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, and Cambridge English exams, by teaching effective test-taking strategies and working through practice materials.
  • Meticulously monitor, track, and document student progress, attendance, and performance, delivering regular, clear progress reports to students, parents, or academic advisors.
  • Adapt teaching methodologies and instructional materials dynamically to meet the evolving needs, cultural backgrounds, and diverse goals of each learner.
  • Foster a positive, supportive, and motivating learning atmosphere where students feel secure and comfortable practicing the language, making mistakes, and asking questions.
  • Provide targeted assistance with homework, class projects, and exam preparation for English-language subjects, ensuring students gain a thorough understanding of the core material.
  • Incorporate real-world contexts, current events, and cultural nuances into lessons to enhance practical language application and promote cross-cultural understanding.
  • Stay current with the latest pedagogical research, innovative teaching methodologies, and emerging technologies in the field of English language teaching (ELT).
  • Communicate professionally and proactively with parents, guardians, or school administrators regarding student progress, challenges, and collaborative strategies for success.
  • Help non-native speakers refine their pronunciation, reduce their accent, and improve conversational fluency for both academic and professional environments.
  • Guide students in developing advanced critical thinking and analytical skills through the detailed study of English literature, analysis of complex texts, and practice in persuasive writing.
  • Manage all session logistics, including scheduling, timely communication, resource preparation, and maintaining a professional and organized learning space.
  • Design bespoke curriculum and long-term learning pathways for a wide spectrum of learners, from elementary school students to C-suite executives.
  • Administer, grade, and analyze quizzes, tests, and other forms of formal and informal assessment to accurately evaluate student comprehension and skill acquisition.
  • Collaborate effectively with other educators, academic counselors, and administrative staff to ensure a cohesive and holistic learning experience for all students.
  • Deliver expert guidance on the principles of academic writing, including essay structure, thesis development, proper grammar, various citation styles (APA, MLA), and plagiarism avoidance.
  • Cultivate an intrinsic passion for the English language and its literature by introducing compelling topics and materials that resonate with individual student interests.
  • Assist students in systematically building a robust vocabulary and understanding complex grammatical structures through targeted, context-rich exercises and activities.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc student requests for specialized language practice, such as preparing for job interviews, practicing public speaking, or editing professional documents.
  • Contribute to the organization's shared repository of teaching resources, lesson plans, and best-practice guides for the benefit of the entire academic team.
  • Collaborate with the academic development team to help refine existing curriculum, test new instructional strategies, and provide feedback on educational materials.
  • Actively participate in professional development workshops, peer observation sessions, and team meetings to continually enhance teaching skills and subject matter expertise.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • English Language Mastery: Native or C2-level proficiency in English, encompassing a sophisticated understanding of vocabulary, grammar, and idiomatic expressions.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.

Preferred Education:

  • Master's Degree in TESOL, Education, English, or Linguistics.
  • A recognized teaching certification (TEFL, TESOL, CELTA) is highly preferred.
