Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Execute end-to-end enterprise AV and IT installations on customer sites, including mounting displays, installing cameras and microphones, terminating and testing structured cabling (Cat6/Cat6A/Cat5e, fiber), and assembling and securing server and network racks to manufacturer specifications.
- Install, configure, and integrate networked control systems, room scheduling, teleconferencing systems (Zoom Rooms, Microsoft Teams Rooms), and DSPs, ensuring seamless interoperability with customer networks and directory services.
- Perform network configuration tasks during installations: assign IP addresses, configure VLANs, set up DHCP/static addresses, configure network switches for PoE devices, and validate connectivity to corporate networks and cloud services.
- Follow technical drawings, schematics, shop drawings, and installation plans to precisely place and connect equipment, verifying clearances, rack elevations, and cable pathways meet site and safety standards.
- Execute cable management best practices: label, route, dress, and secure cables; test and certify horizontal and backbone cabling using industry-standard test equipment; generate and deliver test reports to project stakeholders.
- Assemble, mount, and secure AV components (projectors, screens, displays), speaker systems, microphones, and associated infrastructure while ensuring correct power management and acoustical optimization.
- Rack, stack, and cable servers, network switches, UPS units, and power distribution units; apply correct torque, grounding, and airflow practices; document rack elevations and asset tags.
- Conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning activities: power-on verification, firmware updates, system calibration, signal flow confirmation, and end-to-end functional testing against acceptance criteria.
- Troubleshoot and resolve installation-level hardware and integration issues on-site, including signal loss, audio/video sync problems, network access issues, and cabling faults, escalating to engineering or vendor support as required.
- Provide customer-facing device and system training at project closeout, delivering clear, actionable end-user instructions and basic operational documentation to ensure successful handoff.
- Create and maintain accurate field documentation including as-built drawings, cable schedules, rack elevations, installation checklists, service tickets, and closeout packages for each project.
- Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, IT teams, and subcontractors to schedule work, secure site access, comply with site safety regulations, and sequence activities to meet project milestones.
- Adhere to industry safety standards and best practices while working at heights, in confined spaces, or around energized equipment; operate ladders, lifts, and hand tools safely and maintain required PPE.
- Maintain inventory control: track parts and consumables, report shortages, return defective equipment, and document serial numbers and warranty information for installed hardware.
- Perform post-installation verification and follow-up: validate system performance after initial use, schedule and complete warranty repairs, and provide field updates and recommendations to project managers.
- Apply vendor-specific configuration and integration procedures for systems from manufacturers such as Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Shure, Cisco, Poly, and Logitech ensuring firmware compatibility and supportability.
- Execute basic electrical tasks such as installing low-voltage power supplies, verifying circuit protection, and coordinating with licensed electricians for line-voltage work or hardwired power feeds.
- Ensure installations meet accessibility and code requirements (ADA, local building codes) and support client audits and site inspections by providing required documentation and remediation support.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts by capturing lessons learned, suggesting process improvements on installation workflows, and contributing to the company knowledge base.
- Support large-scale rollouts and repeatable deployment programs, applying standardized technical procedures and templates to ensure consistent delivery across multiple sites and geographies.
- Lead or mentor junior technicians on-site: provide technical guidance, review workmanship, and enforce company installation standards and quality controls.
Secondary Functions
- Assist in creating Bill of Materials (BOMs), site walk reports, and pre-installation surveys to identify potential scope issues and recommend mitigation strategies prior to deployment.

Hard Skills (Technical)
- Structured Cabling: termination, testing, and certification of Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A and multimode/singlemode fiber (OLTs, fusion/splice familiarity).
- Network Fundamentals: IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, PoE configuration, switch basics, and basic firewall/ports familiarity.

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements
Typical Experience Range: 2–7 years of hands-on field installation experience in enterprise AV, network, or low-voltage systems.
