Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Spearhead the creative development of new projects, from generating original concepts and formats to evaluating and refining pitches from external writers and creators.
  • Oversee the entire production lifecycle, ensuring the project progresses smoothly from pre-production through principal photography, post-production, and final delivery.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive production budgets, meticulously tracking expenses and making strategic financial decisions to keep projects within scope and on budget.
  • Create and maintain detailed production schedules, timelines, and calendars to ensure all milestones and deadlines are met efficiently.
  • Source, negotiate with, and hire key creative and production personnel, including directors, writers, cinematographers, editors, and on-screen talent.
  • Lead and manage production teams, fostering a collaborative, positive, and highly productive on-set and office environment.
  • Direct and guide on-screen talent during shoots to elicit compelling, authentic, and brand-aligned performances.
  • Review and provide constructive creative feedback on scripts, treatments, storyboards, outlines, and rough cuts to ensure the final product aligns with the initial vision.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the production team and key stakeholders, including network executives, studio partners, financiers, and distributors.
  • Secure all necessary legal rights and clearances for intellectual property, including music, stock footage, archival materials, and talent likenesses.
  • Manage and supervise all post-production activities, collaborating closely with editors, sound designers, colorists, and VFX artists to shape the final narrative.
  • Identify and solve complex creative and logistical problems as they arise, demonstrating adaptability and clear-headedness under pressure.
  • Field produce on-location shoots, managing crew, talent, and logistics in dynamic and often challenging environments.
  • Develop and execute casting strategies to discover and secure the ideal on-screen talent that brings the project to life.
  • Stay at the forefront of industry trends, emerging technologies, new talent, and evolving audience tastes to ensure our content remains fresh, innovative, and relevant.
  • Oversee the creation of promotional materials, including trailers, sizzle reels, and key art, in collaboration with the marketing and PR departments.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, pitch decks, and status reports to senior leadership and external partners.
  • Build and maintain a strong network of industry contacts, including agents, managers, vendors, and creative professionals.
  • Ensure all production activities strictly adhere to union regulations, safety protocols, and legal compliance standards.
  • Guide the storytelling process to ensure a clear narrative arc, strong character development, and maximum emotional impact.

Secondary Functions

  • Support in the creation of pitch materials, sizzle reels, and concept decks to secure project greenlights and funding.
  • Contribute to the organization's broader content strategy and development roadmap by identifying new opportunities and potential IP.

  • Production & Post-Production Workflows: Deep, hands-on understanding of the entire production pipeline, from prep to delivery.
  • Contract Negotiation: Proven ability to negotiate deals with talent, vendors, and unions.
  • Script & Story Analysis: Expertise in script breakdown, character development, and narrative structure.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent hands-on experience in a professional production environment.
