Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Direct, supervise, and evaluate the performance of a diverse team of entertainers, technicians, and support staff, providing ongoing coaching, mentorship, and formal performance reviews to foster professional growth and maintain high morale.
  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for all entertainment staff, activities, and show performances to ensure optimal coverage and operational flow.
  • Oversee the complete production of all shows and events, from technical rehearsals and sound checks to final performances, ensuring strict adherence to creative and artistic standards.
  • Actively monitor and maintain the quality and integrity of all entertainment offerings, conducting regular show watches and providing constructive feedback to cast and crew.
  • Manage departmental budgets, track expenditures, process invoices, and oversee inventory for costumes, props, and technical equipment to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all on-duty entertainment matters, resolving operational challenges, technical issues, and guest concerns with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Champion and enforce all company safety, environmental, and workplace policies, ensuring a secure and compliant environment for both team members and guests during all activities and performances.
  • Facilitate engaging and effective training programs for new and existing staff on topics including performance standards, safety protocols, and guest interaction best practices.
  • Coordinate and lead casting, auditions, and rehearsals for new productions and replacement cast members, ensuring a high caliber of talent.
  • Manage the maintenance, repair, and inventory of all technical equipment, including audio, lighting, and video systems, coordinating with technical departments as needed.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all entertainment activities and technical cues to ensure consistency and quality across all performances.
  • Liaise with external vendors, guest artists, and agencies, coordinating logistics, contracts, and on-site requirements to ensure seamless integration into the entertainment program.
  • Actively gather and analyze guest feedback and satisfaction ratings related to entertainment, using the data to identify areas for improvement and innovation.
  • Prepare and distribute detailed daily reports, show reports, and incident logs to senior management, providing clear communication on operational status.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and creative team environment that encourages open communication, teamwork, and a shared commitment to excellence.
  • Plan and execute special events, themed parties, and holiday programming, collaborating with other departments to create unique and immersive guest experiences.
  • Maintain a strong and visible leadership presence during operational hours, actively engaging with guests and staff to build relationships and ensure a vibrant atmosphere.
  • Assist the Entertainment Manager with long-term strategic planning, including the conceptualization and development of new shows, activities, and entertainment concepts.
  • Oversee the administrative duties of the department, including payroll processing, supply ordering, and team communication.
  • Ensure all performance spaces, backstage areas, and storage locations are kept clean, organized, and in a show-ready condition at all times.

Secondary Functions

  • Collaborate with the marketing and sales teams to promote entertainment offerings and special events through digital and print channels.
  • Represent the entertainment department in inter-departmental meetings to ensure seamless operational integration with F&B, Hotel Operations, and Guest Services.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging entertainment technologies, and competitor activities to recommend innovative program enhancements.
  • Participate in property-wide manager-on-duty (MOD) rotations as required, handling broader operational responsibilities.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Production & Stage Management: Deep understanding of show-flow, cueing, backstage operations, and managing live performances.
  • Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of theatrical sound, lighting, and video systems and their operational requirements.
  • Budgeting & Financial Acumen: Experience in managing departmental budgets, tracking expenses, and financial reporting.
  • Event Scheduling Software: Proficiency with scheduling tools (e.g., WhenToWork, Kronos) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • 3-5+ years of progressive experience in live entertainment, show production, or hospitality entertainment, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.

Preferred:

  • At least 2 years of direct supervisory or management experience within a large-scale resort, cruise line, theme park, or major live entertainment venue.
