Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop comprehensive, investor-ready business plans, financial models, and cash flow projections to support strategic decision-making and fundraising efforts.
  • Provide expert strategic guidance on go-to-market strategies, product-market fit, and competitive positioning to maximize market penetration and capture.
  • Actively guide and mentor founding teams through the entire fundraising lifecycle, from pitch deck refinement and storytelling to investor outreach and term sheet negotiation.
  • Conduct in-depth market research, customer discovery, and validation exercises to assess the viability of a business idea and identify target customer segments.
  • Facilitate high-impact strategic planning workshops and offsites to align leadership teams on vision, mission, and long-term objectives.
  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and business metrics to provide data-driven insights and actionable recommendations for accelerating growth.
  • Coach founders on effective leadership, team building, organizational design, and fostering a resilient and high-performing company culture.
  • Assist clients in articulating a compelling value proposition, brand identity, and cohesive messaging strategy that resonates with customers and investors.
  • Leverage your professional network to connect startups with potential investors, strategic partners, key talent, and industry-specific mentors.
  • Assess and redesign core business operations and workflows to eliminate inefficiencies, improve scalability, and prepare the company for rapid growth.
  • Advise on complex topics including customer acquisition strategies, digital marketing funnels, sales process optimization, and B2B/B2C sales tactics.
  • Serve as a consistent, objective sounding board and accountability partner, helping founders navigate challenges and maintain focus on critical milestones.

Secondary Functions

  • Advise on foundational intellectual property (IP) strategies, including when and how to pursue patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
  • Support the creation of all investor-facing documentation, including executive summaries, data room materials, and detailed financial appendices.
  • Help early-stage companies navigate complex regulatory, compliance, and legal landscapes relevant to their specific industry.
  • Evaluate and recommend optimal technology stacks and software solutions to support business operations and enhance productivity.
  • Develop and refine pricing strategies, monetization models, and revenue streams to ensure long-term financial health and profitability.
  • Deliver targeted training programs and educational workshops to founders and their teams on critical business topics like sales, marketing, and finance.
  • Stay relentlessly current with emerging industry trends, disruptive technologies, and shifts in the venture capital market to provide timely and relevant counsel.
  • Perform strategic due diligence on potential acquisition targets or partnership opportunities on behalf of client companies.
  • Coach founders on critical negotiation tactics for securing favorable terms with vendors, partners, and potential acquirers.
  • Contribute thought leadership content, such as articles, whitepapers, and case studies, to build the firm's brand and attract new clients.
  • Act as an interim or fractional executive (e.g., fractional CMO, COO) for select clients requiring hands-on leadership during critical growth phases.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Financial Modeling & Business Planning: Expertise in building detailed, multi-year financial projections (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and writing comprehensive business plans.
  • Venture Capital & Fundraising Strategy: Deep understanding of the fundraising process, term sheets, valuation methods, and the venture capital ecosystem.
  • Market Research & Competitive Analysis: Ability to conduct primary and secondary research to size markets, identify trends, and analyze competitive landscapes.

Education & Experience

Educational Background
