As an Entrepreneurship Mentor, you are the trusted guide, strategic sounding board, and accountability partner for high-potential startup founders. You will be embedded within our incubator/accelerator program, providing hands-on coaching and expert advice to help companies overcome critical challenges, achieve product-market fit, and secure funding. Your role is to accelerate the growth of our portfolio companies by translating your own hard-won business acumen into actionable guidance, helping founders avoid common pitfalls and make smarter, faster decisions. This is more than a consulting role; it's a deep partnership focused on building resilient founders and sustainable, high-growth businesses.

Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Provide intensive, dedicated one-on-one and group mentorship to a portfolio of early-stage founders, guiding them through the entire startup lifecycle from ideation to scaling.
  • Conduct deep-dive diagnostic sessions to rapidly identify a startup's core strengths, weaknesses, knowledge gaps, and most critical strategic challenges.
  • Coach founders on the development and refinement of their business models, value propositions, and go-to-market strategies using frameworks like the Business Model Canvas and Lean Startup.
  • Guide teams through the customer discovery process, helping them design and execute effective interviews and surveys to rigorously validate assumptions and achieve product-market fit.
  • Assist entrepreneurs in crafting compelling, investor-ready pitch decks and coach them on delivering a powerful narrative that clearly communicates their vision, traction, and market opportunity.
  • Serve as a strategic sounding board for critical decisions, offering objective, unbiased feedback and challenging founder assumptions to foster stronger critical thinking.
  • Provide expert guidance on fundraising strategy, including identifying the right investors, understanding valuation, navigating term sheets, and managing the due diligence process.
  • Help founders establish and track meaningful Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to drive focus, accountability, and milestone-driven growth.
  • Advise on building and managing high-performing teams, including early-stage hiring, establishing a strong company culture, and developing leadership capabilities.
  • Leverage your personal and professional network to facilitate high-value introductions to potential investors, strategic partners, key hires, and first customers.
  • Deliver practical, hands-on workshops, bootcamps, and masterclasses on core entrepreneurial topics such as sales, digital marketing, financial modeling, and operational scaling.
  • Coach founders on the psychological challenges of entrepreneurship, helping them build resilience, manage stress, and navigate co-founder dynamics effectively.
  • Advise on operational efficiency and scalability, helping startups implement the right processes and tools to support rapid growth without accumulating technical or organizational debt.

Secondary Functions

  • Actively participate in the selection and screening process for new program cohorts, evaluating applications and interviewing founders to identify the most promising ventures.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the program curriculum, incorporating founder feedback and new industry best practices.
  • Author thought leadership content, such as blog posts and whitepapers, to build the program's brand and share valuable insights with the broader startup ecosystem.
  • Represent the organization at industry conferences, demo days, and networking events to attract top-tier talent and strengthen our community presence.
  • Prepare and present regular, concise progress reports on your portfolio of startups to the program director and key stakeholders.
  • Foster a strong, collaborative peer-to-peer community among the founders, facilitating knowledge sharing and mutual support within the cohort.
  • Provide ongoing, ad-hoc support to program alumni to ensure their continued success and to foster a strong, engaged alumni network.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of current trends in venture capital, specific technology sectors, and emerging business models to provide the most relevant advice.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Financial Modeling & Unit Economics: Ability to build, analyze, and critique financial models, SaaS metrics (LTV:CAC, Churn), and unit economics for various business types.
  • Venture Fundraising: Deep, practical knowledge of the entire fundraising process, from pitch deck creation and investor targeting to term sheet negotiation and cap table management.
  • Lean Startup & Business Model Canvas: Expertise in applying lean principles, including rapid prototyping, MVP development, customer discovery, and pivoting.
  • Go-to-Market Strategy: Proven ability to develop and execute comprehensive GTM plans, including market segmentation, pricing, and channel strategy.
  • Digital Marketing & Sales Funnels: Strong understanding of customer acquisition channels (SEO, SEM, content, social) and how to build and optimize a scalable sales funnel.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in any field combined with extensive, relevant entrepreneurial experience. Real-world results are valued more than specific degrees.

  • MBA or an advanced degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Law, or a technical discipline.

  • Partner-track professional at a venture capital firm or an experienced Angel Investor with a strong portfolio.

Preferred:

  • Direct experience as a founder with a successful exit (M&A or IPO) is highly desirable.
  • Prior formal or informal experience mentoring or advising early-stage startups.
  • Experience serving on a startup's Board of Directors or Board of Advisors.
