Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) for new projects and operational changes to identify and mitigate potential environmental risks.
  • Monitor, collect, and rigorously analyze environmental data related to air quality, water quality, soil contamination, and noise levels from various sources.
  • Ensure and document organizational compliance with local, state, and federal environmental laws and regulations, including EPA, NEPA, RCRA, and Clean Water/Air Acts.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company's Environmental Management System (EMS), striving for ISO 14001 certification and continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely environmental reports, permit applications, and compliance documentation to regulatory agencies.
  • Perform regular site inspections and environmental audits to identify non-compliance issues, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for sustainability initiatives, including waste reduction, energy consumption, and water usage.
  • Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software, such as ArcGIS or QGIS, for spatial analysis, environmental site mapping, and data visualization.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact and liaison with regulatory bodies, environmental consultants, and community stakeholders on environmental matters.
  • Research and interpret emerging environmental regulations, industry trends, and best practices to inform corporate strategy and ensure proactive compliance.
  • Manage the lifecycle of environmental permits and licenses, ensuring all conditions are met and renewals are processed in a timely manner.
  • Analyze waste management programs to identify opportunities for waste minimization, diversion from landfills, and promotion of circular economy principles.
  • Develop and maintain inventories of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and other air pollutants for corporate reporting and reduction target setting.
  • Implement robust data validation and quality control/quality assurance (QA/QC) procedures to ensure the integrity and accuracy of all environmental data.
  • Contribute to the creation of annual Corporate Sustainability Reports (CSR) and other external communications related to environmental performance.
  • Design and deliver training programs for employees on environmental policies, procedures, emergency response, and their role in maintaining compliance.
  • Conduct thorough environmental risk assessments and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective mitigation plans.
  • Analyze company-wide energy and water consumption patterns to identify conservation opportunities and support the business case for efficiency projects.
  • Support environmental due diligence activities for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures by assessing potential liabilities and compliance gaps.
  • Lead or support the investigation and response to environmental incidents, spills, or complaints, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Evaluate the environmental performance of suppliers and partners as part of the sustainable supply chain management program.
  • Develop and manage environmental monitoring plans, including the selection of monitoring locations, parameters, and frequencies.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of major environmental regulations (e.g., NEPA, CAA, CWA, RCRA, CERCLA) and permitting processes.
  • Data Analysis & Visualization: Proficiency in data analysis using tools like advanced Microsoft Excel, Python (with Pandas, NumPy), R, or SQL.
  • GIS Software: Hands-on experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, or QGIS for spatial data analysis and mapping.
  • Technical Writing: Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise, and accurate technical reports, permit applications, and scientific documents.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
