Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Interpret and work from complex engineering blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and detailed assembly instructions to build a variety of mechanical and electro-mechanical units.
  • Perform intricate assembly of components and sub-assemblies using a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and specialized precision instruments like torque wrenches and crimpers.
  • Execute precision fitting, alignment, and adjustment of parts to meet strict engineering tolerances and quality standards.
  • Conduct in-process quality control checks and final inspections on assembled products to ensure they meet all functional specifications and aesthetic requirements.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve assembly issues, malfunctions, or discrepancies in parts, reporting complex problems to engineering or supervisory staff for resolution.
  • Operate, calibrate, and test assembled equipment and systems to validate performance, documenting test results accurately.
  • Maintain a meticulously organized and clean work environment, adhering to 5S principles and other lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Strictly follow all company safety protocols and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and actively participate in safety improvement initiatives.
  • Manage and maintain an accurate inventory of parts, components, and materials at your workstation, communicating shortages to the supply chain team to prevent production delays.
  • Accurately document all assembly processes, material usage, and production data in the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) or other designated tracking software.
  • Read and comprehend work orders to determine assembly sequences, required components, and specific customer configurations.
  • Verify component part numbers and quantities against the bill of materials (BOM) before beginning the assembly process to ensure accuracy.
  • Perform basic wiring, soldering, and crimping tasks for electro-mechanical assemblies, following wiring diagrams with precision.
  • Rework, repair, and modify non-conforming components or assemblies as directed by quality control or engineering.
  • Utilize material handling equipment such as pallet jacks or carts to safely transport parts and finished goods within the production facility.

Secondary Functions

  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to identify root causes of defects and contribute to the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Participate actively in team meetings and continuous improvement (Kaizen) events aimed at enhancing production efficiency, quality, and workplace safety.
  • Assist engineers and technicians with the assembly of new product introductions (NPI) and prototypes, providing valuable feedback for design for manufacturability (DFM).
  • Train and mentor new or less experienced assemblers on standard operating procedures, quality standards, and safety practices.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on assembly tools, jigs, and fixtures to ensure they remain in optimal working condition.
  • Prepare and package finished products for shipment, ensuring they are protected against damage during transit and properly labeled.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Blueprint & Schematic Interpretation: Ability to read and follow detailed technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions.
  • Mechanical & Electro-Mechanical Assembly: Proven experience in assembling complex products with multiple components.
  • Proficiency with Hand & Power Tools: Skilled in the safe and effective use of tools such as torque wrenches, drills, drivers, crimpers, and soldering irons.
  • Precision Measuring Instruments: Competent in using calipers, micrometers, multimeters, and other gauges to verify tolerances and specifications.
  • Quality Control & Inspection: A sharp eye for detail to perform visual and functional checks to identify defects or errors.
  • Basic Computer & Data Entry Skills: Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or ERP systems for tracking production and inventory.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing: Familiarity with principles like 5S and continuous improvement (Kaizen).
  • Safety Procedure Adherence: Deep understanding and application of workplace safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 1-3 years of experience in a mechanical or electrical assembly role within a manufacturing environment.

Preferred: Experience in assembling complex equipment in industries such as aerospace, medical device, automotive, or industrial machinery is highly desirable.
