Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Construct, maintain, and update complex, three-statement financial models (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) for a portfolio of covered companies to forecast future earnings and cash flows.
- Perform in-depth valuation analysis using a variety of methodologies, including Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), comparable company analysis, precedent transaction analysis, and sum-of-the-parts.
- Author and co-author comprehensive research reports, including initiation of coverage reports, quarterly earnings previews/reviews, and thematic industry pieces that articulate a clear investment thesis.
- Conduct deep-dive industry analysis, identifying key trends, competitive landscapes, regulatory changes, and potential disruptors that could impact your covered sector.
- Develop and rigorously test investment theses through primary research, including channel checks, expert network calls, and analysis of alternative data sets.
- Monitor and analyze corporate events such as earnings releases, M&A announcements, and investor days, providing timely updates and revised outlooks to clients.
- Engage with the management teams of covered companies to gain deeper insights into strategy, operations, and financial performance.
- Prepare and present compelling investment recommendations and research findings to internal teams, including sales and trading, as well as to external institutional clients.
- Respond directly to inquiries from institutional clients, providing data, financial models, and nuanced perspectives on covered stocks and the broader industry.
- Systematically track company-specific news, macroeconomic data, and market sentiment to provide real-time context and analysis.
- Write and publish daily morning notes and market summaries, highlighting key overnight developments and their potential impact on covered stocks.
- Assist the Senior Analyst in all aspects of the research franchise, from idea generation and data gathering to final report publication and client marketing.
- Analyze and interpret complex financial statements and SEC filings, including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, and proxy statements, to uncover critical business insights.
- Build and manage proprietary databases of industry metrics, valuation multiples, and historical financial data to support ongoing analysis.
- Survey customers, suppliers, and competitors to build a mosaic of information that provides a differentiated view of a company's prospects.
- Develop a network of industry contacts to facilitate primary research and stay ahead of emerging trends.
- Assist in generating new stock ideas and investment themes by applying a creative and disciplined research process.
- Create and maintain marketing materials and presentations used to communicate the team's research and investment views to a broad client base.
- Evaluate the potential impact of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) factors on company valuation and long-term performance.
- Continuously refine financial models and valuation frameworks to reflect new information and evolving business dynamics.
- Support the Senior Analyst in preparing for media appearances, conference presentations, and other public-facing engagements.

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Advanced Financial Modeling: Ability to build detailed, three-statement, multi-scenario financial models from scratch in Excel.
- Valuation Expertise: Deep understanding and practical application of DCF, comparable company analysis, precedent transactions, and other valuation techniques.
- Microsoft Excel Proficiency: Expert-level skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, macros, and data analysis tools.
- Financial Data Terminals: Hands-on experience with Bloomberg Terminal, FactSet, or Refinitiv Eikon is essential.
