- Elicit, document and validate detailed business requirements through workshops, interviews and process discovery, and translate them into functional specifications and configuration blueprints for ERP modules.
- Conduct comprehensive process mapping and gap analysis comparing current-state processes to ERP standard capabilities, and propose pragmatic process re-engineering or customization approaches with impact analysis.
- Design and configure ERP solution components (master data, chart of accounts, item and BOM structures, pricing, workflows, authorization matrices) following best practices and governance standards for target platforms (SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Cloud ERP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, NetSuite).
- Develop detailed data migration strategies and execution plans, including source-to-target mappings, data cleansing rules, ETL/ELT approach, reconciliation controls, and test loads to ensure accurate master and transactional data conversion.
- Lead integration design and implementation with internal/external systems (CRM, WMS, MES, payroll, banking, EDI partners) using APIs, middleware (Dell Boomi, MuleSoft, Informatica), flat-file interfaces and middleware patterns; coordinate technical teams and vendors to deliver robust interfaces.
- Author clear, prioritized functional specifications and user stories for development and integration teams; review technical designs and perform configuration/unit testing to ensure functionality meets acceptance criteria.
- Create and execute comprehensive test plans (unit, integration, system, regression, UAT) including test scenarios, test scripts, defect tracking and sign-off processes; guide client UAT with issue triage and resolution to enable timely cuts.
- Drive change management activities including stakeholder analysis, communication plans, executive briefings, role-based training, and readiness assessments to maximize user adoption and minimize business disruption.
- Design and deliver role-based training materials and train-the-trainer sessions, develop job aids, quick reference guides and e-learning content to accelerate proficiency for end users and support teams.
- Manage cutover planning and go-live readiness including dry runs, contingency plans, data reconciliation, batch processing schedules, and runbook finalization to ensure smooth production transition.
- Provide post-go-live hypercare and stabilization support, establishing SLA-driven issue resolution, monitoring performance, conducting root-cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions until steady-state is achieved.
- Maintain rigorous project documentation and governance artifacts (requirements traceability matrix, decisions register, configuration logs, change requests) to ensure auditability, compliance and knowledge transfer.
- Partner with client IT and security teams to ensure ERP configurations meet company security, segregation of duties (SoD), access control, audit, and compliance requirements (SOX, GDPR, local tax rules), and coordinate remediation where needed.
- Work closely with finance, procurement and operations SMEs to design reporting and analytics solutions (operational dashboards, financial consolidation, KPIs), leveraging built-in ERP reporting or BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, Oracle Analytics).
- Facilitate vendor and third-party coordination, including SaaS providers, integration vendors, and implementation partners—managing deliverables, SLAs and technical handoffs.
- Estimate and manage workstream timelines, resource plans, budgets and change requests; proactively identify and mitigate implementation risks and dependencies, escalating where necessary.
- Advise on customization trade-offs and recommend standardization or minimal viable customizations that preserve upgradeability and reduce total cost of ownership.
- Perform performance and capacity planning activities to ensure the solution meets transactional throughput, reporting windows and batch processing needs for peak business periods.
- Coordinate cross-functional testing scenarios that validate end-to-end business processes spanning multiple modules and integrations to ensure no functional/regulatory gaps.
- Conduct system health checks, periodic configuration audits and continuous improvement reviews to identify optimization opportunities post-implementation.
- Support contract and procurement activities related to ERP modules, license usage, third-party add-ons and managed services, providing functional input for SOWs and SLAs.
- Mentor and coach junior consultants and client super-users on functional design, testing best practices, and operational support procedures to build internal capability.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ERP product roadmaps, module releases, and industry best practices; recommend roadmap items and phase-two initiatives that align to strategic business goals.
Secondary Functions
- Assist in pre-sales activities: create solution outlines, scope estimates, and contribute to RFP responses and demos that highlight ERP implementation approach and value.
- Support development of templates, accelerators and reusable assets (configuration guides, test scripts, cutover checklists) to shorten future implementations.
- Participate in regular project steering committee meetings and status reporting, providing transparent metrics and progress updates to stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by collecting user feedback, analyzing usage patterns and proposing future configuration or process changes that increase efficiency.
