Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Oversee and execute comprehensive landscape and grounds maintenance programs, including turf management, seasonal planting, irrigation systems, and arboriculture, to maintain pristine aesthetic standards.
  • Perform advanced horticultural duties, including the specialized care of formal gardens, specimen trees, greenhouses, and natural woodlands, focusing on soil health, fertilization, and integrated pest management.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on all estate buildings, structures, and systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, generators, and security systems, to ensure optimal functionality and longevity.
  • Manage, operate, and maintain a diverse range of estate equipment, from heavy machinery like tractors and excavators to precision tools, ensuring all are in safe and excellent working order.
  • Develop and meticulously follow detailed maintenance schedules and checklists for all property assets, including pools, spas, water features, tennis courts, and sophisticated outdoor living areas.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external vendors and specialized contractors; managing scheduling, critically overseeing quality of work, and ensuring strict adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and perform high-level, skilled repairs on a wide range of interior and exterior issues, demonstrating proficiency in carpentry, painting, minor electrical, and plumbing tasks.
  • Manage estate-wide projects from conception through to completion, including small-scale renovations, landscape installations, and system upgrades, often requiring direct hands-on involvement and leadership.
  • Ensure all aspects of the property are consistently "guest-ready," maintaining an exceptional level of cleanliness, organization, and presentability across all interior and exterior spaces at all times.
  • Maintain detailed digital and physical logs and records of all maintenance activities, repairs, vendor services, warranties, and inventory of valuable supplies and equipment.
  • Implement and manage integrated pest management (IPM) programs for both interior and exterior environments, utilizing environmentally responsible and effective methods.
  • Oversee the care and routine maintenance of luxury vehicles, recreational vehicles (ATVs), and boats, including detailed cleaning, fluid checks, and coordinating professional servicing.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and manage complex smart home technology, security/surveillance systems, and high-end A/V equipment, ensuring seamless operation for the principals and their guests.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to on-call or after-hours property-related emergencies, demonstrating superior problem-solving skills under pressure to protect the property and its occupants.
  • Assist in managing operating budgets for grounds, maintenance, and special projects, diligently tracking expenditures and providing clear reports to the Estate Manager or principals.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce rigorous safety protocols and procedures across the estate to ensure a secure and risk-free environment for residents, staff, and guests.

  • Assist with the logistical and technical setup and breakdown for private events and functions, ensuring all grounds-related and systems-related aspects are flawlessly executed.

  • Manage inventories of all tools, equipment, and maintenance materials, proactively sourcing and reordering high-quality supplies to prevent any disruption in workflow.

  • Manage the estate's waste disposal, recycling, and composting programs, ensuring they are run efficiently and in an environmentally conscious manner.
  • Coordinate specialized care for any on-site animals, water features with fish, or aviaries, liaising with veterinarians or other specialists as required.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Advanced Horticultural Knowledge: Deep understanding of plant identification, soil science, advanced pruning techniques, and sophisticated pest/disease control.
  • Heavy Machinery & Equipment Operation: Proficiency in operating and maintaining tractors, light excavators, woodchippers, chainsaws, and other landscape/construction equipment.
  • Systems Maintenance Expertise: Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on skill in troubleshooting and repairing HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and complex irrigation systems.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
