Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Travel nationally and internationally to provide comprehensive, on-the-ground coverage of industry conferences, trade shows, product launches, and other key events.
  • Identify, research, and pitch compelling story angles and content ideas before, during, and after each event.
  • Conduct insightful and professional on-camera and written interviews with keynote speakers, industry experts, executives, partners, and attendees.
  • Write and publish a variety of high-quality written content under tight deadlines, including breaking news hits, in-depth feature articles, session recaps, and thought leadership pieces.
  • Generate a continuous stream of engaging real-time content for social media platforms (e.g., live-tweeting sessions on X, posting video clips and photo galleries to LinkedIn and Instagram).
  • Conceptualize, shoot, and edit short-form and long-form video content, including interviews, event highlight reels, and social media shorts.
  • Capture high-quality photography of event proceedings, speakers, networking sessions, and exhibition halls to be used across all content channels.
  • Host and moderate live-streamed panels, interviews, or Q&A sessions from the event floor.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with industry influencers, media personalities, and key stakeholders to facilitate exclusive content opportunities.
  • Proactively network throughout events to gather intel, source stories, and act as a brand ambassador.
  • Adhere to brand guidelines and journalistic ethics, ensuring all content is accurate, fair, and aligned with our company's voice and tone.
  • Collaborate with the editorial and marketing teams to develop a cohesive pre-event, live, and post-event content strategy.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activities at events to inform our content and business strategies.
  • Manage all logistical aspects of event attendance, including scheduling interviews, planning daily content agendas, and coordinating with event organizers.
  • Repurpose event content into various formats, such as blog posts, case studies, white papers, and webinar presentations, to maximize its value and reach.

Secondary Functions

  • Analyze the performance of event-related content using analytics tools, providing reports on engagement, reach, and other key metrics to demonstrate ROI.
  • Maintain and manage all reporting equipment, including cameras, microphones, lighting, and other necessary gear.
  • Contribute to the organization's overall content calendar, ensuring event coverage is integrated seamlessly with other marketing and editorial initiatives.
  • Assist the social media team in community management by responding to comments and questions related to event coverage.
  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis related to event trends and audience feedback.
  • Participate in post-mortem meetings to evaluate the success of event coverage and identify areas for improvement in future events.
  • Stay updated on the latest digital storytelling tools, social media trends, and content creation technologies to keep our coverage innovative.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Expert-level Writing & Editing: Mastery of AP style and the ability to produce clean, compelling copy on tight deadlines.
  • Videography & Video Editing: Proficiency with DSLR/mirrorless cameras and editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro.
  • Photography: Strong skills in digital photography, including shot composition, lighting, and photo editing with tools like Adobe Lightroom.
