Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Implement and enforce access control procedures by verifying tickets, credentials, and IDs to prevent unauthorized entry into restricted areas.
  • Conduct thorough but respectful screenings of guests and their belongings via bag checks, pat-downs, or metal detectors to prevent prohibited items from entering the venue.
  • Act as a visible security presence, performing continuous foot patrols of assigned areas including perimeters, stages, backstage, and guest seating to deter undesirable activity.
  • Proactively monitor crowd dynamics to identify potential safety risks, signs of distress, or escalating tensions, and intervene appropriately.
  • Respond swiftly and effectively to medical emergencies, alarms, and security incidents, providing immediate assistance and escalating to emergency services or management as required.
  • De-escalate volatile situations and verbal conflicts using proven conflict resolution techniques to maintain order and guest safety without unnecessary force.
  • Manage orderly crowd flow during entry, exit, and emergency situations, providing clear directions and maintaining clear pathways.
  • Secure restricted areas, command posts, and sensitive equipment, ensuring only authorized personnel are granted access.

  • Observe and report any suspicious activities, safety hazards, or unusual circumstances to the security supervisor or command center in a timely manner.
  • Provide a high level of customer service by answering guest questions, providing directions, and offering assistance to enhance the overall event experience.
  • Write detailed, accurate, and legible incident reports documenting any security breaches, accidents, or unusual occurrences for official records.
  • Liaise effectively with venue staff, event organizers, and local law enforcement/emergency medical personnel to ensure a coordinated security effort.
  • Operate communication equipment, such as two-way radios, to maintain constant contact with the security team and command center.
  • Enforce all venue and event-specific rules and regulations in a firm but polite manner to ensure compliance and safety for all attendees.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of security-related equipment, such as stanchions, barricades, and signage.
  • Provide security escorts for VIPs, performers, or for the movement of valuable assets as directed.
  • Monitor CCTV systems to observe crowd behavior and identify potential issues in real-time from a fixed post.
  • Conduct pre-event security sweeps of the venue to identify potential vulnerabilities or hazards before guests arrive.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, representing the client and security company with integrity.
  • Stand for extended periods, walk long distances, and navigate through dense crowds and varying weather conditions.
  • Participate in pre-event briefings to understand the specific security plan, post orders, and chain of command for the day.

  • Valid State-Issued Security Guard License (Guard Card, PERC Card, etc.)

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • 0-3 years of experience in security, military, law enforcement, or a high-volume, customer-facing role.

Preferred:

  • 1+ years of demonstrated experience working in an event security, crowd control, or venue security capacity. Experience at large-scale events like concerts, festivals, or major sporting events is highly desirable.
