Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to define, implement, and refine the organization's long-term strategic plan to ensure continued relevance and growth.
- Cultivate a strong and transparent working relationship with the Board, providing regular, comprehensive updates on financial, programmatic, and operational status.

Financial & Operational Management
- Assume full P&L responsibility, developing and overseeing a comprehensive annual budget to ensure the organization operates in a fiscally sound and sustainable manner.
- Ensure the organization's operational and administrative functions are efficient, effective, and compliant with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee all financial management, including financial reporting, cash flow management, and audit processes, in partnership with the CFO/Director of Finance and the Board's Finance Committee.
- Implement and manage effective systems to track progress, measure success, and evaluate program components to communicate impact to the Board, funders, and constituents.
- Negotiate and manage major contracts, leases, and agreements, ensuring the organization's interests are protected and risks are mitigated.
Fundraising & Revenue Generation
- Serve as the chief fundraiser, designing and executing a diversified and comprehensive fundraising strategy that encompasses major gifts, corporate sponsorships, foundation grants, and individual giving.
- Personally cultivate and solicit major donors, foundations, and corporate partners, building and maintaining a strong portfolio of high-level relationships.
- Guide the development team in creating compelling fundraising campaigns, grant proposals, and donor communications that drive revenue growth.
- Empower the Board of Directors to actively participate in fundraising activities, providing them with the tools and support needed for effective ambassadorship and resource development.
- Explore and develop innovative revenue streams, including earned income opportunities and social enterprise models, to enhance financial resilience.
Board Governance & Community Relations
- Work in close partnership with the Board Chair to plan and facilitate productive board meetings and committee work, ensuring the board's focus remains on strategic governance.
- Lead efforts in board development, including the identification, recruitment, and orientation of new board members who reflect the diversity of the community served.
- Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with community groups, government agencies, corporate leaders, and other non-profits to advance the organization's mission.
- Serve as the primary liaison to key partners and coalitions, representing the organization in public forums, conferences, and media opportunities.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives throughout the organization, from internal policies and hiring to program delivery and community engagement.
