Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Monitor, track, and analyze federal, state, and local legislative and regulatory activities to identify potential opportunities and risks for the organization.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive stakeholder engagement plans to build and maintain strong relationships with government officials, legislative staff, industry associations, and community leaders.
  • Research and prepare detailed policy briefings, position papers, talking points, and presentations for senior leadership on key public affairs issues.
  • Represent the company in meetings with external stakeholders, including trade associations, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations, to advocate for our strategic interests.
  • Manage the development and submission of formal responses to public consultations, regulatory proposals, and government inquiries.
  • Cultivate and maintain a sophisticated understanding of the political, economic, and social environments relevant to the company's operations and strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Legal, Communications, Operations, and Strategy) to ensure a consistent and aligned approach to external engagement.
  • Draft and disseminate external communications materials, including press releases, newsletters, and social media content, to support public affairs objectives.
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on key industry trends, competitor activities, and public sentiment to inform external relations strategy.
  • Develop and manage a stakeholder mapping database (CRM) to track interactions, interests, and influence, ensuring a systematic approach to relationship management.
  • Plan and coordinate strategic events, such as policy roundtables, legislative days, and site visits for public officials, to showcase the company's contributions and perspective.
  • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with think tanks, academic institutions, and advocacy groups to amplify our message and build coalitions.
  • Prepare regular reports and metrics dashboards for senior management to demonstrate the impact and ROI of external relations activities.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on the company's public policy positions and effectively communicate them to diverse audiences.
  • Support the management of political action committee (PAC) activities, ensuring compliance with all relevant lobbying and ethics regulations.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist in the management of the external relations budget, including tracking expenditures and processing invoices.
  • Provide support for crisis communication preparedness and response, helping to draft statements and coordinate with internal stakeholders.

Educational Background
